Neverland

Lindsay was really starting to get tired of Peter Pan. At four years old Gus was insisting on watching the same movies over and over and over again. Gus decided on both Peter Pan and Return to Never Land as his repetitive movies of choice. He could recite the dialogue along with the characters, as could Lindsay. Every time she tried to get him to watch something else he would scream and cry. So she was stuck watching the movies over and over again.

"Come on, Gus, we have to go."

"No! The movie's not over!" the boy screamed. She made the mistake of putting the movie in to entertain him so she and Melanie could get dressed. Gus absolutely refused to do anything until the movie was over. The three of them were meeting Brian at the diner for lunch and they were already going to be late as it was.

"Gus....honey....if we don't go then you can't see Daddy."

"I wan see Daddy," Gus said.

"Then we have to turn the movie off sweetheart."

Gus looked at the TV, then looked at Lindsay, then looked back at the TV before nodding. Lindsay sighed with relief and turned the TV and the DVD player off. A few minutes later they were loaded in the car and headed to the diner.

When they got to the diner Brian was not the only one joining them for lunch. Michael was already sitting in the booth with them. Gus ran in and right up to Brian.

"Daddy!" he yelled. Every head turned to the sight of Brian picking up the little boy and hugging him.

"Hey, sonny boy." Brian gave Gus a quick kiss on the cheek then set him in his lap, removing his jacket and placing it beside him. He scooted over so Linds could take a seat, Mel sitting next to Michael. Gus started telling Brian something that he couldn't understand. He looked to the munchers for translation.

"He's telling you about Peter Pan," Lindsay said. "It's his favorite movie."

Brian nodded and turned his attention back to Gus who was still chattering on incoherently with the occasional understandable word. Brian could make out "Wendy" and "Peter Pan" and "Captain Hook" but that was about it. About then Ted and Emmett arrived and joined them. When Gus saw Emmett, he smiled.

"Tinkerbell!" he said rather loudly. That got everyone laughing.

"Kid knows a fairy when he sees one," Brian commented. Emmett rolled his eyes at Brian. Debbie came to take their orders, staying to talk to them as usual.

"Hey, Gus. Don't you look cute today?"

"Tank you," he said with a smile.

"Well, he certainly didn't learn his manners from his father," Debbie said and everyone laughed, Brian simply rolling his eyes. Debbie went to fill their orders, then because the diner was empty except for them, she rejoined them. Gus looked at Lindsay.

"Wendy," he said pointing at her.

"No, I'm Lindsay," she said with a smile.

"No! You Wendy!" Gus pouted.

"Mommy's Wendy?" Mel asked and Gus nodded. "Oh.....okay. Who am I?" she asked and Gus smiled.

"You Tinkerbell, mama."

"Does that mean if I don't believe in you, you'll disappear?" Brian asked with a smirk. Lindsay tried to keep from laughing.

"Gus, who's daddy?" Debbie asked. Gus looked up at Brian for a minute, then said very matter of factly.

"Cap Hook" That got everyone laughing.

"Even your son sees you as a villain," Melanie said. Brian rather maturely stuck his tongue out at her.

"The image does fit," Debbie commented.

"Yeah, but instead of being chased by a croc, he chases cock," Ted quipped.

"I don't chase anybody," Brian said.

"Yeah, they all seem to chase you." Though Emmett was talking to Brian he was looking right at Michael.

"Shut up, Tinkerbell," Michael said with a pout, looking just about like Gus did a few minutes earlier. Once again everyone laughed.

"So......who's Peter Pan?" Ted asked. At that moment Justin walked in the door to start his shift. Gus pointed at Justin.

"Peter Pan," he said with a smile.

Everyone at the table looked at Brian with the exact same expression. A smirk and a raised eyebrow. The irony was not lost on Brian. Captain Hook was always trying to kill Peter Pan. Constantly trying to get rid of him. But he was never successful. Peter Pan continued to outsmart Captain Hook and would not go away. Peter Pan had also stolen Captain Hook's treasure and no matter how hard Captain Hook tried he could not get it back. The connections between himself and Justin, and Captain Hook and Peter Pan were rather interesting.

"Daddy?"

Brian looked down at the boy in his lap. Apparently Gus had picked up on his sudden change in mood even if no one else had. The concern on Gus' small face just made Brian smile.

"Yeah, sonny boy?"

"Love you." He hugged Brian and gave him a big, noisy kiss on the cheek. The chorus of "aw" coming from those around them drowned out Brian's whispered reply.

"Love you too, sonny boy."
