The Smart One

System Failure

(Fandom - Supernatural)

"The… mouse… went… dancing… naked. What the fuck? This doesn't make any sense," Dean said.

"You must've decoded it wrong," Sam said. "It can't be right."

"Well, you try," Dean said and handed the wrinkled paper to his brother.

"Hmm… 4 equals T… 9 equals H… and…"

"So?" Dean asked when Sam was finished.

"Okay, so I got the same result. The mouse went dancing naked. This is way weird even for us. I can't figure this one out."

"Fuck this! Why can't I just sit in an office eight hours a day and then go home? Life would be so much easier."

"You? In an office eight hours a day? That I'd like to see."

"What?"

"Come on Dean, you wouldn't survive till lunch."

Dean thought for a moment. "I guess you're right."

"Ain't I always?" Sam grinned.

"Aren't I," Dean corrected.

"Smartass. What are we going to do now?"

"We need to find a decoding expert; I'm sure there's someone in dad's diary."

***************************

"What do you think?"

"What decoding system did you use? PSC?" the expert asked.

"Yeah but it doesn't make any sense."

"Did you try the other systems?"

"The other systems? There are more systems?" Sam asked surprised.

"Of course. XPM, YMF and PRT."

"Fuck! We didn't know anything about them," Dean exclaimed frustrated.

"Maybe some papers went missing during the years," Roget said. "Anyway, I'll show you boys the systems and I'm sure we'll figure this message out."

"Okay, I think we have a winner; it's an address. 7816 Maple Street, Hinsdale, Illinois," Roget finally said.

"Well at least that makes sense," Sam said. "No naked dancing mice."

"So, what's in there?" Roget asked.

"No idea," Dean said bluntly.

Sam noticed Roget's surprised look. "We don't always know beforehand – we just go there and find out," Sam explained.

"Oh. Well, good luck!"

"Thanks Roget, we might need it. And thanks for all your help; we would've been lost without you," Sam said.

"Anytime."

"I guess it's time for us to get back on the road again," Dean said.

"Take care!" Sam said from the door.

"You too, boys!"

"I'll drive," Dean stated when they were outside.

"Yeah yeah. Can we please listen to something else than Metallica this time?"

"What? No Metallica? In my car? I like you when you're joking," Dean said and started the car.

"I wasn't joking," Sam mumbled to himself.
