Boo!

Warning: much sap and schmoop!  And almost nothing scary.

The jaguar hid high amongst the tree branches as the wolf loped through the jungle underbrush searching for his mate.  The big cat grinned as his partner below sniffed the air; the keen nose of the wolf twitched.  The wolf knew the jaguar was close by but he was unable to spot him.  The wolf lumbered away still looking for his mate.

After a while the jaguar climbed down from the branches onto the jungle floor.  He leisurely sauntered through the foliage following the wolf’s trail toward a clearing.  The jaguar stopped just at the far edge.  He watched his mate lounging, stretched out in the warm sun.  The wolf’s thick grey coat shone brightly with silvery highlights as it absorbed the heat from the sun’s rays.

The jaguar crouched low to the ground to skirt the edge, drawing closer to his prey.  At just the right time, the jaguar leapt.

“Boo!”

“Shit!  Jim, warn a guy,” Blair cried out, his hand clutching at his chest while he heaved from fright.

Jim laughed then pulled Blair close for a contrite hug. “I’m sorry, Sandburg.  I thought you’d be prepared for anything by now.  We are in a haunted house, after all.”

The boys were chaperones for a charity fund raiser for the Cascade Children’s Society.  The proceeds would go toward the housing of homeless children and their families.  The haunted house gave the kids a safe place to play, enjoy some snacks and give a little respite for weary parents.  All the members of the Major Crime unit of the Cascade PD were taking turns as chaperones.

“Yeah, yeah,” Blair waved his hand in the air.  “You’ve made stalking and pouncing into a fine art.  I don’t know if it’s from your Ranger cov-op training or that you’ve been taking lessons from your spirit guide.  Either way, I never know when you’ll turn up.”

“So does that mean I should stop pouncing?”  Jim purred as he maneuvered them into a shadowy corner, concealing the nips and nibbles Jim was taking from Blair’s neck.

“I didn’t say that,” Blair murmured as he turned his head to give Jim more access to the tender flesh.  Jim nuzzled the warm skin, savoring the scents he found there.  The smell of Blair’s shampoo mixed with Blair’s own unique scent.  It sang to the Sentinel as did everything about Blair, his Guide and partner.

“Hey,” Blair whispered as he gently poked Jim in the chest.  “Hold that thought until later,” Blair commanded the Sentinel softly, using his guide voice.  “Chaperoning remember?”

Jim sighed as he deeply inhaled one last time before stepping back. “Right you are, Chief.  Save my spot for me,” Jim said as he went off to escort another group of kids through the haunted house.

Later that night when all the festivities were over, Blair went home to make them a late night snack while Jim and the rest of Major Crimes accompanied the officials of the charity to the bank.  Jim headed home after the takings had been safely deposited.

“Thanks, Chief.  That hit the spot,” Jim complimented.  “Why don’t you head on up while I clean up then take a quick shower.”

“Great idea,” Blair said with a yawn.  “I’m beat.”

“Not too tired I hope,” Jim said with a leer.

“Never too tired for that, man,” Blair said as he waggled his eyebrows.  He sprinted up the stairs to await his Sentinel.

The wolf lay stretched out, his white under belly exposed, vulnerable to the jaguar.  As the big cat softly padded closer, the wolf’s nose twitched and his tail automatically began to wag, thumbing against the ground in anticipation.

“Boo!” said Jim as his naked body covered Blair’s equally naked body as he lounged in their bed.  “Did you save my spot for me?” Jim purred.

“Yes, I did,” Blair replied as he willingly turned his neck, giving himself over to Jim.

The jaguar roared, the wolf barked and yipped as they frolicked and played then kept vigil over their humans as they made love throughout the night.
