Almost

"Hi!" Ryan exclaimed when he went through the front door. "Damn, it was a long day. Seth? Are you home?"

Ryan didn't get an answer so he went into the living room and found Seth sitting on the sofa with a wine bottle in his hand.

Seth looked pissed. "Well, you finally came home then," Seth said with a slur.

"Are you drunk?"

"No, I'm not drunk! And don't change the subject! Where the hell have you been?"

"At work. I told you I might be late."

Seth totally ignored Ryan's answer. "Do you have any idea what day today is?"

"Thursday."

"It's our anniversary!!!"

"No, it's not," Ryan said calmly.

"It is! Our anniversary is the 21st!"

"Yeah, but today is the 20th."

"It isn't!"

"It is. Look," Ryan said and showed Seth his phone. "Thursday the 20th."

"You've changed it somehow," Seth said looking suspicious.

"Oh, for God's sake, Seth. Where's your phone?" Seth pointed to the table. Ryan picked the phone up and showed it to Seth. "See?"

Seth looked at his phone. "Oh." He stared at the wine bottle in his hand. "I'm sorry." He looked at Ryan. "I'm really sorry. I'm sorry I was so snappy. I was sure it was today. Can you forgive me?"

"Of course," Ryan said and hugged Seth.

"I thought you had forgotten," Seth said quietly onto Ryan's shoulder.

"Have I ever forgotten?" Ryan asked looking straight into Seth's eyes.

"No."

"And I won't. Ever," Ryan said and kissed Seth.

Seth smiled. "You're too good to me."

"Of course I am," Ryan said grinning. "So, anyway, I think I smell food..."

"Yeah. I made lasagna - nothing fancy."

"But it's my favorite."

"Yeah, I thought you'd like it."

"Well, let's eat - I'm starving!"

"But it's almost eleven!"

"So?"

"And it's not even our anniversary yet."

"Well, we can have a late night pre-anniversary dinner tonight and another dinner tomorrow. How's that?"

"Sounds good to me. There's not much wine left though," Seth said sheepishly.

"No worries, I prefer water anyway," Ryan said and extended his hand to Seth. He smiled and took Ryan's hand into his. When they were almost at the table, Seth stopped. "Ryan?"

"Yeah?"

"I love you. A lot."

Ryan couldn't help but beam at his partner. "I love you too. A lot," Ryan said and pulled Seth into a long kiss.
