Brian had been awake for several minutes, but stayed in that one spot without moving. He just wanted to savor the feeling of the other body against his. As usual, Justin was sprawled across the bed, but no matter how much he moved around, he always ended up touching the older man. At this particular moment, one of his legs was resting on Brian’s thigh and an arm was carelessly thrown over Brian’s chest. The weight felt good. The soft smooth skin was warm and comforting.

Justin’s scent filled his nostrils and enveloped his brain. Sweet honey and peppermint. Justin’s own scent,
mixed with sweat created by hours of lovemaking. Brian couldn’t believe how much he missed that over
the past few months.

When Brian finally opened his eyes, he was greeted with a head of blonde hair resting on his shoulder.  Bed head. Brian almost laughed out loud, remembering the first time Justin said that to him. Now he smiled at the spikes and swirls of Justin’s hair as his head moved in time with the rise and fall of his own chest.

He couldn’t see Justin’s face, but knew exactly how it looked from countless nights of watching him sleep.
Long lashes resting on the perfect skin of his cheeks, flushed pink with sleep.  Red lips, slightly parted,
moving ever so slightly, as if talking as he dreamed. And just a drop of saliva  in the corner of his mouth,
swallowed before it could run out. Most of the time.

Brian closed his arm around his sleeping partner and held him close, letting his fingers comb softly through his hair. In his sleep, Justin shook his head as if a fly or mosquito were bothering him. Brian stopped his caresses, not wanting to disturb the peaceful slumber.

Eyes closed again, Brian let the feelings wash over him.  He could finally admit that he really loved this person who came into his life one night in a glow of yellow light. His life was changed that night and it will never be the same again. He didn’t want it to be. He was happy for the first time in his life. He found the rest of himself, the part that had been missing for 29 years. Justin was the other half of his soul, and now they were together as they were always meant to be. Two halves of a whole.
