Falling Asleep

I roll from atop you
But not wanting to totally lose
The touch of you.
Sated, as only love can do
Hearts beating as one
Breath short
Bodies wet with sweat
And tingling in the night air.

I turn to you
And kiss your temple
Wanting to kiss away the scar
Of another night.
Hoping those memories
Stay in the farthest locked
Part of your mind
For just one more night.

I draw you into my arms
And hold you near me
Listening to your heart beat
And the steady breathing
As you settle into my embrace.
I hear you whisper you love me
And I can’t help smiling
Because I love you, too.
