"What if ..."

Justin hadn't left the Rage Party with Ethan.

(The Way it Should have Been)

“Hey, Sweetie. Brian’s looking for you,” Mel said as she and Lindsay danced by.

“For me? Really?”

“Sure. This is your night. He wants to spend it with you.”

Justin looked at Daphne and smiled one of his best sunshine smiles. “Weeellll. Don’t just stand there. Go find him,” Daphne said, giving Justin a little push. “I’ll just amuse myself here. Don’t worry about me. Go on, find your boyfriend.”

Scanning the crowded dance floor, Justin headed in the direction that Mel and Lindsay just came from. He saw Brian dancing with ‘Rage’. “How appropriate,” he thought to himself. He stood there for several minutes, watching his lover move to the music. He could watch Brian forever. He is still the most beautiful man Justin has ever seen. A new song started and Justin moved over to the two dancers. “Hey, Stud. Care to dance?”

‘Rage’ backed off, leaving the other two men alone. Brian took Justin in his arms and held him tight. “I can think of something else I’d rather do with you. How about it?”

Justin blushed, which made Brian laugh. “Uhh, maybe later,” Justin said, against Brian’s neck. “ I promise I’ll give you a proper thank you for this party,” he murmured in his most seductive voice.

“You’re on, Baby.”

After several dances, Brian headed to the bar for drinks for himself and Justin. While Justin waited for him to come back, someone tapped him on the shoulder. He turned to see Ethan Gold, the violinist he saw on his birthday with Lindsay and Melanie. “Remember me?”

“Yeah. How are you doing? I really enjoyed your concert.”

“I heard about this party, and I hoped I’d see you. I have something for you.” He handed Justin his latest CD. “I hope you don’t mind. I used one of your drawings for the cover.”

“No, this is awesome. Thanks.”

“Yeah, well, I figured in a few years, I wouldn’t be able to afford a Justin Taylor sketch. Look, I have to leave. Jason, he’s my boyfriend, and I are going to Penn State for a school concert tomorrow. Good luck with your comic.”

“Thanks. Good luck with your music, too. See ya ‘round school sometime.”

Brian watched the dark haired kid walk away as he approached Justin. Handing him a beer, he asked who that was. “Just someone from school. The violinist on that CD I got from the concert.”

“I thought he looked familiar.” With the violinist already forgotten, Brian asked, “So, are you having a good time tonight, Baby?”

“The best. But it’ll be even better when we get home. I bought some chocolate sauce and strawberries today.”

“Mmmm. You think anyone would miss us if we left now?”

In answer, Justin took his hand and they left Babylon together.
