"What if ..."

Jennifer Adored Brian.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

It had been a while since Jennifer met her friends at the country club for a cup of tea and some gossip. She had a date with her friends later in the afternoon and was looking forward to it.

Jennifer arrived at the club at 4:15, fashionably late. Meeting her friends at their usual table, they started gossiping right away, talking about a lot of things – new couples and old couples, that social event or the other, and in the end they started catching up on what was going on in their lives.

"Oh Jennifer, those diamond earrings are beautiful. Where did you get them from?"

"They are a present from my son-in-law, for my birthday. He said they match the necklace he and Justin bought me on their honeymoon in the
Bahamas. They are 1.5 karat each, but he can afford it; after all he is a partner at the most successful ad agency in Pittsburgh and is about to open an agency of his own. His clients have already agreed to move with him."

"So Jennifer, tell us, how is Justin?"

"Who?"

"Your son, Justin."

"Oh. He is about to graduate from PIFA. Did I tell you about the surprise that Brian is planning for Justin's graduation? He's taking him on the most perfect trip. They'll visit
France, England, Italy….and guess what? I'm going to have my grandson over for a whole weekend! Would you like to see some recent photos of him?"

"Of course."

"Here is Gus with his daddies at my birthday last week."

"Oh my, he is so adorable. How old is he?"

"He'll be 5 in September. He is growing up so fast and looks so much like his father. I hope he grows up to be just like Brian; successful, loving and caring. I can tell right now that he'll be just as handsome. He's definitely going to break a lot of hearts."

"Jennifer, may we see the rest of the photos?"

"Of course. I'll explain each one. Here are Gus and Molly on Christmas morning. They got so many presents; Brian and Justin are always spoiling them. Here are Brian and Justin at their loft.

"That place is wonderful."

"Yes it is, but they don't live there anymore, they just bought a house. I was their realtor and with the commission I made from selling the house and the loft, I'm buying a new car. It was so nice of Brian to let me handle both transactions. There were a lot of people interested in buying the loft, and in the end, they got twice
the money that it was worth."

"That place is great, why did they sell it?"

"Well, they're having a baby; my granddaughter will be born next month. So there wasn't enough room in the loft for two adults and two children."

"Oh my god, Jennifer, congratulations! That is wonderful news."

"Thank you. It was great catching up with you girls, but I have to go. Brian and Justin are having a baby shower and I don't want to be late. We'll have to do it again soon."

"Yes we should. Have a great time, and again, congratulations."

"Thank you. Bye"

"Bye."
