"Justin, if you walk out of that door, don't come back."

"Fine, Dad, I won't." Justin grabbed his jacket from the closet and opened the door. Turning back he shook his head at his father, "But it won't change the fact that I'm still your son and I'm still a fag."

"Justin," his mother's voice pleaded. "Don't go, not like this."

"You know what Mom, if this is the way it has to be, then so be it. I love him and I'm not going to let him leave without knowing that."

"Be careful," she said as her son shut the door quietly behind himself.

Justin waited outside for Michael to pick him up. As soon as he saw Debbie's car his heart started to race uncontrollably. The thought ran through his mind that Brian might end up hating him for what he was about to do but it was worth the risk if it meant that Brian wouldn't leave.

They drove slowly down Liberty Avenue searching for any sight of Brian. Michael suggested that they look at the train station and airport for his best friend. Pulling up in front of the Amtrak station Justin jumped out and quickly started scanning the terminals for his lover. Just when he was about to lose hope he spotted Brian and ran toward him.

"BRIAN!?!"

Brian heard Justin's voice and quickened his pace. He didn't need to see him right now. He was afraid that if he saw Justin one more time he wouldn't be able to leave. He was just about to enter the men's room when he felt Justin's hand on his arm.

Turning he slowly faced his lover.

"Brian, didn't you hear me calling you?"

"Go home, Sunshine."

"No, I can't. I won't. I love you, Brian."

"No you don't. Jack's right, I'm unloveable."

"No you're not. I love you, Michael loves you, Debbie and Vic love you, so you see you're not unloveable."

"Let it go Justin. I need to do this."

"Do what? Leave everybody who loves you? Can you just walk away from what we shared? Do I really mean nothing to you?"

"Don't make me do this Sunshine."

"Do what you have to do, but I'm not going anywhere. You can't just push me away, Brian. I love you. Do you understand that? Do you know what that means?"

"That you're going to annoy the hell out of me until I say I'll stay?"

"If I have to."

"Why can't you just go away quietly?"

"Because I have nowhere to go."

"What do you mean, you have nowhere to go?"

"My dad told me that if I came after you that I couldn't come back. So here I am with nothing but my love for you. So see, you can't go anywhere. I need you."

"Nice try Sunshine but Debbie will take you in, you'll be okay."

"No she won't," Michael chimed in and Brian noticed his best friend for the first time.

"What the fuck is this, an ambush? I get it, Michael told you some bullshit story about how he can't survive without me and you came running. Am I right?"

"Sorry to burst your bubble, Brian, but I told him that you loved him."

"And how the fuck would you know that?"

"Because I'm your best friend and I know you better than anyone else. I see it every time you look at him. You may not realize it, but you are in love with Justin and he loves you back. That means something."

"Anybody ever tell you that you talk too fucking much, Mikey?" Turning back to Justin he kissed the top of his head. "Please tell me that you didn't listen to this fool."

"No, I listened to my heart. I love you."

"You're making this fucking impossible."

"I'm nothing if not persistent."

"There's nothing here for me. I can't go back and face Jack, he'll kill me."

"Then I guess we'll be alone in this together."

"Oh sure, we'll find us a nice cardboard box and set up house like a couple of dykes."

"Damnit Brian, why do you have to be so fucking cynical all the time? Isn't it enough that we'll be together?"

"Are you sure you're a fag Sunshine?"

"Want me to prove it?"

"Anytime."

"Then come home with me. Just accept that I love you and come with me."

"And just where will we go?'

"I guess we'll just have to figure that out together."

"Let's go home." Brian threw an arm around Justin, kissing him before leading the way. Pulling Michael close he pressed a light kiss to his forehead and the three of them walked out together.

The three boys drove home in silence and Debbie decided not to ask any questions until morning. She brought Brian and Justin extra blankets and smiled to herself as she closed the door behind her. She lingered long enough to hear something she never thought would happen.

"I love you, Sunshine," Brian said kissing Justin goodnight.
