Five years later

The house was full of rowdy seven year olds all dressed in their finest attire for the tea party that Maya had insisted on having for her birthday.

Brian sat on the couch and ran a hand through his rapidly graying hair. He scanned the room for Justin and found him helping a little boy with his tie.

Feeling Brian's gaze Justin turned to flash him that unnerving smile that always caused a tightening in his pants.

Lindsay and Gus had moved into the guest house and were helping them raise Maya. Gus had refused to come to the party because he was too old for such nonsense. Brian had arranged for Hunter to take him to the movies and knew that their friendship would be good for both young men.

Just as the presents were being opened Brian pulled the small velvet box out and placed it next to the remaining gifts on the table.

Maya opened it to find a silver locket with an angel engraved on the front. Opening it she found a picture of her mother and JR.

Flinging her arms around her father, she held Brian tightly as she cried softly on his shoulder.

Justin caught Brian's eye and whispered a quiet thank you.
