I Want You to Know
Part 25

I walked in the door to find him pacing back and forth in front of the window, his mother and Emmett sitting on the couch watching him. Looking around for the girls and not finding them, I asked where they were.
"They're upstairs, watching Dora The Explorer,"
Jennifer explained.
"That little girl is just too darn cute," Emmett carried on as though he
watched it all the time. "I love her backpack and how the map
sings."
"Enough with the review there Aunty Em." I went
to Justin and tried to kiss him. When he pulled away from me, I sighed, trying
to remind myself that he was scared. "Justin, baby, sit
down."
"I don't want to sit down, Brian. That monster was with my kids. He
could have taken them and hurt them or anything else he wanted to do. Where
the fuck was the teacher? Why was he allowed near them?"
The tears were glinting in his eyes as I heard the fear in his voice, "Justin,
they're fine. Nothing happened. I called Horvath and he is on his way over.
We are going to get this straightened out tonight."
"I'm going to go check on the girls," he said as he ran from the room and
up the stairs.
I turned to Jennifer and sank down next to her. She patted my leg and put
her arm around me trying to comfort me. "Brian, he's scared."
"I know Jen, so am I. I hate the thought of Joshua
near my girls as much as he does. He shouldn't be out of jail this
soon, he killed someone for fuck's sake."
"Brian I know it's hard, but you have to stay strong and calm for Justin
and the girls. When will Carl be here?"
She was answered by the doorbell ringing. I stood to open the door; Horvath
came in with a worried Debbie trailing behind. "What the fuck is going on
Brian? AND where is Sunshine?"
"Calm down Deb, everything is going to be fine. Justin is upstairs with the
girls, why don't you go on up." I turned to Horvath, "Hey Carl, want a cup
of coffee or a beer?"
"Beer would be great, but I'm on duty so the coffee will do." Jennifer stood
to get him a cup as he sat down across from me. "So tell me exactly what
happened."
"I'm not exactly sure what happened, all I know is that Justin called me
upset. He was going on and on about Joshua giving Willow a toy frog or something.
It took me almost ten minutes to calm him down. Listen Carl, he's scared,
and frankly so am I. I don't want that sick bastard anywhere near my
children."
"I know Brian, but we have to be sure it was him first. He violated the
restraining order so that is enough to haul him in for questioning, but it
may not be enough to hold him. More than likely they'll let him go until
something else happens."
"It may be too late when something else happens," Justin said entering the
room. "What if he hurts one of the girls Carl. Then
what? Will that be enough to keep him in jail?"
"Justin if it were up to me, he'd still be rotting in jail for what he did
to you and Melanie. Unfortunately the judge felt different and he is out
on the streets again. I can promise you that if he comes near you or the
girls again, he will be back in jail so fast his head will spin."
"Carl, I need reassurance that he won't be able to get to my kids. Can you
give us that?" Justin sat holding my hand so tight that I thought it would
fall off.
Carl sat avoiding Justin's eyes, and looked to me for guidance before speaking,
"I'm sorry Justin I can't promise you that. I can post a guard with the kids
at all times or you can hire private security but unless he is caught with
them or hurts one of them, my hands are tied."
The next morning I met Carl at his office downtown and discussed our options.
Justin wouldn't leave the girls with anyone else and didn't want them out
in public with Joshua running around. As I sat there talking about hiring
private security with Carl my cell rang. Seeing it was a call from

Brian went home to find Justin finishing up with dinner preparations, while
the girls all sat coloring at the table. Kissing each of them on the cheek,
Brian finally got around to kissing Justin. He pulled him close and kissed
him long and hard, only breaking the kiss when he heard the girls
giggling.
"What?" he asked turning to face them with a funny look on his face. All
five girls giggled louder and screamed, "you kissed daddy."
"That's what daddy's do, they kiss hello. Now close your eyes
cause Dadda is going to
kiss daddy again." All five girls covered their eyes and laughed at
the joke they played every night. After kissing
Justin again, Brian sat down next to Thea and picked
up her picture, studying it closely.
"Good job, pumpkin head."
"I not a punkin head,
dadda, I a little girl. You silly
dadda."
"But you're my pumpkin head sweetie. Give me those pictures, girls,"
he said taking the papers and putting them up on the fridge as Justin got
dinner on he table. They had a quiet dinner for once as Brian sat watching
the girls more than eating, loving the times he spent with his
family.
Later that night after giving the girls their baths, and cleaning up the
river they made in the bathroom, he and Justin lay in bed watching Letterman.
Justin's head was resting on his chest as usual and Brian was once again
tracing the faint scar that was on his chest. He was dreading bringing up
the news he had gotten earlier in the day. Taking a deep breath he waited
for a commercial to speak.
"Justin, I have to go to
"Now?"
"I have to," Brian shook his head to clear his mind and looked at
his lover with such sadness that Justin almost gave in without a fight. "I
have no choice, Justin. There is a problem with one of the partners and Sony
wants me there."
"For how long?"
"A few days at the most, I leave tomorrow afternoon. Your mom and
Emmett are going to stay with you and the girls. I don't want you here alone,
not now."
"Brian, we'll be fine. I don't want my mom to have to stay here and watch
over us."
"I would feel so much better if you let her stay. I don't want you alone
here with me half way around the world."
"Fine, it will give me a chance to go out for a few hours alone and run some
errands. What time is your flight tomorrow?"
"Two, so I wanted to spend the morning with the girls and we can have lunch
somewhere, if that's okay."
"Sounds like fun, the girls will love it. Now come here baby," he pulled
Brian down for a kiss and let his tongue linger on his lower lip for a few
minutes before letting Brian suck it into his warm moist mouth.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
I sat in my old office at Sony, dialing Justin's cell phone again. Getting
the voice mail, I left another message, "Justin, if you don't call me back
within the next hour I am flying home, even if it means I have to sprout
wings to get there."
I had been calling him all day and it had been five hours since leaving the
first message at the house. I had tried all three of the lines and then his
cell, getting voice mail on everyone of them. No one had heard from Justin
all day and I was beginning to get worried. I dialed Emmett's cell phone
and waited impatiently for him to answer.
"Emmett Honeycutt."
"Em, Brian, have you heard from Justin at all today?"
"Brian, are you back?"
"No, answer the question Emmett, have you heard from Justin
today?"
"Nope not a word, and he missed a lunch date with
me yesterday as well. Maybe one of the girls isn't feeling well."
"That wouldn't stop him from answering the phone. FUCK, this isn't like
him."
"Want me to stop by and check on him?"
"Would you? Call me as soon as you get there." Giving Emmett my number I
waited for him to call. An hour later when Emmett hadn't called and did not
answer his phone, I asked to borrow the company jet to get home.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Emmett pulled up in front of the house and noticed no sign of life at all.
He rang the doorbell several times before reaching under the mat for the
extra key he knew Brian and Justin kept there. Finding it missing he tried
the door and found it unlocked. He stepped inside, hearing voices from the
top floor, decided to go investigate first instead of calling Brian.
Once upstairs he stopped next to Justin's bedroom door
and gasped when he heard Joshua in the room. Backing away from the
door he knocked a vase off the hall table, stopping dead in his
tracks.
Joshua heard the noise, pointed the gun at Justin and said harshly, "get
rid of them."
With the gun pointed at his back, Justin went to the door, openly it slowly.
Seeing Emmett standing in the hallway like a deer caught in the headlights
he knew there was no way of getting rid of him. Justin stood there
silently, hearing Joshua cock of the hammer of the gun, he tried in vain
to get Emmett to leave .
"Emmett, honey, I'm sort of busy. Can you come back later in the week? One
of the girls is sick."
"Justin, I know that he's here," Emmett spit out without thinking. Pushing
Justin out of the way, Joshua grabbed Emmett pulling him into the room and
slamming the door. Once inside, he pushed Emmett to the floor and pointed
the gun at him.
"Don't try to be a hero, or I'll kill you all." Emmett sat shaking and crying
silently, praying that somehow Brian would come and save them all.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
I pulled up in front of the house, noticing Emmett's car and Justin's van
both parked in the driveway. Opening the door, I was shocked by how quiet
it was in the house. With five girls, our house was never quiet. Alarm bells
went off in my head, sensing that something was wrong. I decided against
calling out, I took the back stairs two at a time. Once upstairs, cold chills
ran down my spine as I opened the door to each of the girls'
rooms one by one, finding them all empty.
Moving silently down the hall, I stopped just outside of our bedroom and
heard the sound of his voice. Justin was talking to someone, begging to let
Emmett and the girls go, as I stood listening to him bargaining for our
daughters' lives with his own. Waiting another few seconds
before quietly opening the door and slipping in unnoticed. I saw the
back of Joshua's head and caught the glint of the gun as the light struck
it. Holding my breath I slipped into the bathroom through the door in the
sitting room.
Joshua was unaware I was in the house and that gave me an advantage. I stood
against the door as Justin spoke to him softly.
"Joshua, you don't want the kids. Let Emmett take them out of here. They're
frightened, Joshua. Let them go."
"No, I need them."
"What will it take for you to let them go? I'll do anything you
want."
"It won't work, if I have those kids, I have control."
"It's not the kids you want though, it's me. Let them go and I'll come with
you."
"No you won't, do you think I'm stupid? Those are his kids and you love them
because of that. So as long as I have you and the kids he can't touch
me."
My heart broke at Justin's next words ,"I don't
love him anymore Joshua. Every time he touches me, I think back to that night
you and I fucked. You are so much better than he is, it's you I
want."
"Prove it," he said pulling my lover to his feet and taking him to the sitting
room. Holding the gun to Justin's
I caught Emmett's attention and he carried one sleeping girl after another
to me, as I put them out into the hall. Luckily this house had many entrances
to each room. I had hated that when we first bought the house, but now I
was grateful for it. Emmett was on his way to me with
He fired the gun without a second thought I saw the blood run down Emmett's
arm from
I heard Justin screaming into the phone for an ambulance and the police and
it gave me enough adrenaline to roll him off of me. We continued to struggle
for the gun, the last sound I remember was a shot being fired and Justin
screaming.
