Celebration
"Damn it." your brother says.
Ryan just woke you up. It's not that hard when you're sleeping in the same bed. You've done it lots of nights since you were a kid. Ryan had moved into our dads' house when he was six. Till then he had been in foster homes and orphanages. He had felt alone and scared those first few nights. Because of that Ryan came to my room and I let him sleep with me. What are big brothers for? Now it's just out of habit. There was nothing sexual about it. It's just nice not to be alone sometimes.
But you and your brother have also fooled around too, sometimes. A lot of brothers do. We were close in age and just curious. And man were we a couple of horny teenagers. We had each other and we were never going to hurt each other. So there never was a problem. You were about to ask him what's wrong when you pick up the smell. Every guy knows that odor.
"Wet dream?" you ask softly. No reason for the whole house to know.
"Yeah." He says as he sits up. "Christ, what a mess."
"Well clean yourself up and just come back to bed." You watch him wipe himself off with his underwear and start to get up to get a fresh pair. "I wouldn't worry about that." He must have agreed because he just gets back under the covers. "You got to jerk off more often." You tell him with a smile.
"Is that your brotherly advice?"
"Works for me."
You both laugh and then cuddle up and try and fall back to sleep.
"Gus, you think we're going to be gay?" He asks quietly
"I don't know. Who'd you dream about?"
"It was a girl from school."
"Looks like you're going to be the straight one."
"How about you, who do you dream about?"
"A girl."
"Really?" he sounds surprised.
"Yeah I know everyone is expecting me to be gay. I like guys but I mostly like girls."
"Man, our parents are going to freak when they find out they raised a couple of straight kids."
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
"Hey mom." You call as you enter the kitchen. Your mother Melanie is up and going over some legal papers with her morning coffee.
"Morning guys." she calls as she looks up briefly.
"You're up early."
"Got court Monday, got to go in for a few hours to prepare. What do you guys got planned for a Saturday?"
"We were thinking of heading over to the park and shoot some hoops and then maybe hit the pool this afternoon at dads' house."
"Well, call ahead and see if it's ok. And don't go beating up all the neighbors kids at hoops again."
"Can we help it if the only thing that bothers us is kryptonite?" you ask as you pull your sleeve up and flex your arm.
Melanie laughed and shook her head. "Men."

It's amazing how unselfconscious those boys are. You're looking out in the backyard. Ryan and Gus brought a few friends over to use the pool. Not a bathing suit in sight. God, the neighbors must thing we're having a teenage orgy in the backyard. What the hell I can't say anything about it. Neither Justin nor I have much of a tan line either "Brian Kinney get away from that patio door right now. There's only one bubble butt you're allowed to stare at and that's mine."
"You mean that saggy old thing of yours." You say with a smile as you turn away from the door.
"Oh, you're going to pay for that tonight mister. I'm getting the handcuffs out."
"Promises, promises. Any mail?"
"Bills and the usual junk. There is one letter from the Pirates." He says as he hands you the envelope. It's from their special events group.
You open it up and find it's an invitation to an old timer's game. It's been 10 years since the World Series victory and the Pirates were trying to reunite the team for a little anniversary celebration.
You hand the letter to Justin and he reads it.
"Hey, this is great Brian. Let's go."
"I'm not an "old timer"
"You know the boys never got to see you play. Or at least were old enough to remember. You should do it for them."
"Yeah see their old man embarrass himself."
"What are you talking about? You're in great shape. I bet you can still fit into your old uniform."
`You really think I should?"
`Yes and so would the boys and so would the girls and so would all those people whose letters fill those mail sacks out in the garage."
I never could say no to him. "Ok I'll call them back Monday."
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Been so long I almost forgot how much I enjoyed the comradeship of a locker room. It was great seeing everyone again. It's been almost two years since Cooperstown when you got to see everyone last. Justin was right. Your old uniform still did fit. And there it was hanging in your old locker. God, the memories and emotions that sight brings back. You start changing but your thoughts were interrupted.
"Hi Brian. My name's Josh."
You look up and recognize the guy. He's the Pirates new starting center fielder. This kid should be a real star one day. You've been following the team and remember when he got called up. "Hey Josh. Glad to meet you."
"I've been hoping to meet you. I've wanted to thank you for a long time." He hands you a manila envelope. There's a letter and a photo in it. The photo is the autographed photo you and Justin sent out 10 years ago to those gay kids who wrote after you came out. While you look it and the letter over Josh explains how he got it. "I was 16. Lived in a small town in West Virginia and played with my high school team. I thought I was alone. There was no one I could talk to. Saw the World Series and what you did. I wrote and you wrote me back. After that I knew I could make it. I just toughed it out, got a scholarship and got out." He shows you a picture of him and another young man. "David and I have been together for four years. I doubt none of that would have happened without you. I've just wanted to say thank you for so long."
No matter how many times you hear a story like that it still chokes you up.
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Going out on the field again was a blast. I had made myself forget what it was like so I wouldn't miss it. I've forgotten how much the applause and cheers were like a narcotic. Nothing can get you higher then the adulation of 25,000 people screaming your name. Even got a hit and that got me a standing ovation from the boys. We played a couple of innings, raised some money for charity and we all had a blast reliving our youth.
Pittsburgh never forgot us. We had given them the last championship the city had. They wouldn't let us off the field. Somebody had the great idea of jumping on to the dug out roof. We all just waved and gave everyone a chance to say thank you. But standing there also brought back some other memories.
"What so funny?" someone asked.
"I was just thinking about the last time I was up here."
"Well I ain't kissing your ugly mug." That got everyone laughing.
"You two still together?" someone else asked.
"He's sitting with the boys over there." you say as you point and wave at Justin.
"Call him up." You're shocked that someone would suggest it. "C'mon Brian do it. He played a part in us getting here. Bet there's a lot of people who wondered what happened to him." You look into their faces. It looks like everyone agrees.
"What the hell." You walk to edge and yell to him. "Hey Justin, c'mon up."
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Oh shit not again. You just sink into your seat hoping he'll stop. Now the rest of the players start and then the crowd near you pick it up.
"Go dad." Ryan wants you to go to. Both boys are grinning and yelling go. Mel and Lindsay are smiling and encouraging you to go to. You just shake your head and laugh as you get up and head down the steps. Brian holds his hand out and pulls you up into a bear hug.
"Well, shall we do it again?" Brian asks.
"Sure." but before Brian can react you grab him and dip him back. You look into his surprised eyes and then give him one of your patented hair curling, dick hardening kisses. The crowd loves it. His teammates were laughing and give a few cat whistles, along with a few shouts for us to get a room.
"I've been waiting 10 years to get even with you for that little surprise." You tell Brian with a grin as you let him up.
"So the little twinkie gets his revenge."
You just answer that with a big sunshine smile.
The guys had to head back to the locker room and change. The rules said they have to be out of uniform before the real game began. Brian was going to join everyone after he had changed. He gives you a quick kiss then heads off with his fellow players through the dug out. You head back to your seat the way you came, getting some handshakes and nice words from everyone as you work your way back to your seat.
Everyone was laughing at what happened. I think Ryan ended up saying what everyone was thinking. "You know dad we can't take the two of you anywhere."
