THE TIME TRAP

Chapter 3

As Reid walked into his home, Faith was leaving with the twins, each bundled into their infant car seats and peacefully napping.  “Glad to get two seconds to say hi B - I - L.”

“Glad you abbreviated brother-in-law.  You wouldn’t want to waste any time getting my rugrats over to your place.”  Reid grinned as Faith laughed.

“We start play-dates early in our family.  In fact, as I recall from everything I’ve been told since I can remember, all the family stories reflect Luke playing with me from the moment I was born.”  Faith nodded in Luke’s direction and his soft smile reflected agreement.  “Let’s face it, he’s the only one who could get away with calling me Faithee.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah.  I’ve heard it all.  The Snyders are all about family.  I know, you’re just like The Three Musketeers, all for one, one for all.”

“Just remember, Reid, you’re one of us too.”  Faith winked

“How can I ever forget when your brother never ceases to remind me.”  Reid looked over Faith’s shoulder at Luke.  “Isn’t that right, Mr. Oliver-Snyder?”

“Completely accurate, Dr. Oliver-Snyder.”

“Oh my God.  You two are such geeks.  I’d better get these two out of here and expose them to some proper role models.”

Luke chuckled.  “You mean someone like your motorcycle enthusiast husband?”

“Parker and I have sworn off motorcycles for all the kids in the family until they’re at least old enough to wear helmets without breaking their little necks.”

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart and my surgeon’s already overburdened hands and hours.”

Faith chuckled as she walked out the door, calling over her shoulder, “See you tomorrow at lunch time.  Grandma Emma and Nat will be there too, so bring enough dessert for all... and Reid.”

Reid closed the door behind Faith and secured the deadbolt before turning toward Luke.  “I’m glad you were agreeable to planning a night alone.  We really need it for a change.”

Luke walked up to Reid and wrapped his arms around him, pressing their lips together, sharing their taste, moaning into the kiss as it deepened.  “I’m always willing to spend a night alone with you whenever we can.  I’m just wondering what brought this on so suddenly.  Usually we have to plan and plan to get some time to ourselves, especially lately with your crazy hours at the hospital.”

“That’s part of it.  I think I may have two more surgeons about to sign contracts with Memorial, and one almost there -- resting in the wings.”  Reid bit his lower lip and noticed Luke looking anywhere but in his direction.  “I also have something to tell you, but I get a sense you have something to share as well.”

Luke pulled back and walked over to the bar cart, tapping the closed cap of the Glenlivit.  “I was pretty surprised to find myself staring at this a couple of times today.”

“My scotch?  If it’s a problem for you, I’ll pour it down the drain.  No need for you to have any unnecessary temptations in our home.”  Reid hoped his concern was evident and that he didn’t sound patronizing.

“I know you’d do anything to support me, but I didn’t need it when I realized what happened today was not my fault.”  Luke returned to Reid’s arms.  “Noah was here and it wasn’t one of our stellar visits.”

“Fuck!”  Reid already imagined the scenario that must have played out, but he waited for Luke to continue.

Without hesitation, Luke shared the play-by-play of the events that nearly had added Noah and Sammy to the Oliver-Snyder household.  Luke looked down when he admitted Noah had kissed him, but quickly reassured Reid that it meant nothing and he had been appalled by Noah’s behavior.

Watching his husband begin to wring his hands and start to pace, Reid grabbed Luke’s arm to halt him.  Turning Luke so the two were looking directly into one another’s eyes, Reid laced his fingers in Luke’s hair and kissed him as deeply and as passionately as he could.  The two became lost in their kiss and began walking toward the bedroom, not thinking about anything else.

Pausing as they sat on the edge of their bed, Luke broke the kiss.  Catching his breath, he found his voice.  “What did you need to tell me?”

Reid snorted.  “Almost the same story, in reverse, with Mark.  He feels rejected because Noah claims not to need him in his brief moments at home between surgeries and patient follow-ups.”

Luke bit his lip.  “How much of the story is similar?  Did Mark kiss you?  How did it feel?”

The little inkling of the old insecure Luke was clearly creeping to the surface.  It explained Luke’s near trip off the wagon, although Reid still wished his husband could find the security in their lives to stave off the desire.  Yet, he had no intention of chastising Luke.  Luke’s drinking -- his alcoholism, was his demon, his disease, and Reid would only get involved if asked.

“How did it feel?”  Reid repeated Luke’s question, then cupped Luke’s cheek to make sure they were looking into each other’s eyes.  “It felt wrong, very wrong.  There is no one I want to kiss in any way that could be considered passionate, heated, or loving, whose name is not Luke.  You’re it for me.  And I know I’m it for you.”

“You are Reid.  Only you, forever.”

“Then no need for anything but to show each other how we feel.  Reminders are an important part of life and I think today we both need one, especially since our friends clearly both crossed lines they shouldn’t have.”

Reid wasn’t sure who made the first move, but their embrace was strong, their connection unquestionable.

With their lips and hands parting from the other, only for brief moments, they each took turns undressing one another.  Reid hissed as Luke unbuttoned his shirt, peeling it slowly away from his body, placing kisses on each newly exposed inch of skin, stopping to suck on each of Reid’s nipples as the shirt fell from his shoulders.

From that moment on, the two couldn’t slow their pace.  It had been so long since they could express their love without the presence of children in the house cramping their style and spontaneity.

Moaning as Luke took Reid’s cock in his mouth, the sensation of Luke alternately sucking and licking drove him crazy.  “Luke, on the bed, now!”

Completely naked, the two lay together, legs entwined, clinging to each other.  “Reid, I want to feel you... inside me.”

Reid didn’t have to be asked twice.  Grabbing some lube from the drawer in his nightstand, Reid poured some onto his fingers and prepared Luke.  Slowly opening him, watching as Luke’s head fell back against the pillows, turning from side to side, as Reid added a second then a third finger.  “Reid, more, please.  Take me.  I need you.”

Spreading the remaining lube on his dick, Reid lifted Luke’s legs to rest against his shoulders.  As he pushed inside, pressing his cock home, Reid looked at Luke.  “Open your eyes.  I want to see you and I want you to see me.”

Luke opened his eyes, mouth open as Reid pressed in further.  “Oh God!”

“Only you, Luke.  Now and forever.  You’re the only one.”

“Reid, it’s only you for me.”

Thrusting in and out, Reid moved, ensuring his dick passed over Luke’s prostate, nudging it over and over.

“I love you!” Luke called out as he climaxed, streams of come spilling between them.

When Reid felt Luke tighten around him, he groaned, following Luke, filling his husband, making him his own once again.

Out of breath and completely satisfied, Reid held Luke in his arms and enjoyed the warmth of the returned embrace.  They rested together peacefully, knowing their love couldn’t be impacted by anyone in their lives, past or present.

“I love you, Luke.  Never question that, ever.”  Reid whispered in Luke’s ear.

Luke pressed his lips to Reid’s cheek.  “I’ll never question our love.  And if you give me a minute, I’d like to show you just how much I love you, again and again.”

“I’m not going anywhere.”

Reid couldn’t be happier.  All thoughts of the problems Mark and Noah were having had left his thoughts, although they would still have to be addressed the next day.  But for the time being, this was his night to share with only his husband.
