School Days

Part 1

“It’s Kevin all over again.  Only this time the Snyder kid is straight and he’s still getting harassed because of gay Luke!”

Reid silently opened the refrigerator, pulled out a bottled water to cool off his partner, and a dish of leftover apple pie from the last Snyder family event, although he couldn’t remember the theme or who the guest of honor had been at the last obligatory dinner.  Fortunately, all meals at the farm ended with Emma insisting Reid needed fattening up and sending him home with most of the remains from the day.

“Catch.”  Reid tossed the sealed bottle toward Luke to distract him from his tirade.

“Thanks.”  Luke opened the bottle, chugged half of it, sealed it and slammed it on the kitchen counter.  “I know what you’re trying to do.”

Reid tapped the edge of the baking tin.  “I’m trying to decide whether to eat this directly from the pie plate or actually cut a slice off and put it on a separate dish.”

Luke tilted his head.  “You’re not funny Reid; we can’t ignore this.”

It was obvious Luke was no longer boiling over as he grabbed his bottle of water and calmly took a seat at the kitchen table.

“I can’t stand that Ethan’s getting picked on because his brother and adoptive father--”

“You know I’m really too young for that title,” Reid interjected before he pulled his heated slice of apple ecstasy out of the microwave.

“Stop distracting me.  We need to deal with this.  I don’t want my brother going through what I went through, especially since he doesn’t deserve it.”  Luke lowered his head and finally quieted.

Reid took his time swallowing his mouthful of pie, giving him the opportunity to formulate a response to Luke’s concerns.  “There’s so much wrong with your last statement, I’m not sure where to begin.”

“What are you talking about?”  Luke’s normally neatly gelled hair was tousled about, a clear indication he was truly troubled.

“First of all, you didn’t deserve to be bullied either, and second, Ethan’s not, nor has he ever been, in love with the two jackasses on the football team that seem to be bothering him, although we don’t know whether or not he’s gay.”

“What are the odds that another member of my family is gay?  Isn’t one enough?”

“Luke, while I realize you’re not related to all of your siblings by blood, although it’s hard to keep track of whose parent is whose, we both know there are clear indications in the research that sexual orientation can be linked to DNA.  You and Ethan do share the same mother.”

Nodding, Luke remained silent while taking another sip of water.

“The truth is we won’t know anything about Ethan until he decides to reveal his sexuality by dating either girls or boys.”

“Oh God, I don’t even want to think about that.”

“Well, don’t.  As far as I’m concerned there’s no reason to get involved deeply with anyone until he’s much older.”

“Says the man who truly experienced his first boyfriend in his thirties.”

“Lucky for you I was willing to change my relationship policy.”  Reid smiled around another mouthful of pie.  “This is great even two days later.”

“I’m surprised it lasted that long.”

“I was in back-to-back surgeries all day yesterday.”

“Right.”  Luke sighed.  “We need to help Ethan before the crap at school gets totally out of hand.”

“Are you sure he wants our help?”

“I’m pretty sure he doesn’t want those idiots taping anymore GQ models on his locker with the words Is this what you’re looking for? written across the page or having a cheerleader’s skirt left in his gym locker with two creeps in the background laughing at him.”

Reid shoved his empty plate to the side and took Luke’s hand in his own.  “Luke, years ago, when we first got together, you asked me if I’d been harassed in high school.  I lived in a pretty liberal part of the country and my school experience reflected that.  I know Kevin was the catalyst for a lot of insane and horrible things that happened in your life, but unless Ethan tells us more, or asks for our help directly, I don’t want to step in.”

“So you think it’s okay to let these guys bug him until he does lose it?”

“I didn’t say that.  What I do think is that it’s time for me to agree to give the school that brilliant presentation they’ve been begging me to deliver for three months now.  Why is it that parents who have a modicum of intelligence, and a job that’s bit more interesting than crossing guard, are always asked to make ridiculous, and usually boring presentations to inspire students.”

“Maybe because they’d like said students to have goals a bit higher than school crossing guard and they think exposing them to the wide world of opportunities might do the trick.”

Reid picked up his dish and placed it in the dishwasher, covering the final slice of pie with plastic wrap and putting it back in the refrigerator.  “This is mine, Snyder.  Hands off.”

Luke snickered.  “Unless Ethan gets to it first.  He is fourteen.”

“I think he has a tapeworm.”

“Maybe it’s the same one you’ve had since I met you.”

“I guess we do have a father-son connection in some ways.”

Luke rolled his eyes.  “Reid, do you really think your mere presence in front of Ethan’s entire class will have any impact.”

“It might.”  Reid smirked, imagining his presentation.

“Oh my God.  What are you planning to say to those creeps?  You’re not going to pull them aside and threaten them, are you?”

Reid grimaced.  “When have you ever known me to be heavy handed with people?”

Tilting his head, Luke grinned.  “Physically, never.  Verbally, when have you not?  So what are you going to say to the jackass jocks?”

“Nice alliteration.  I’m not going to say anything directly to them or the principal.  Trust me.  I’ll get my point across in a way that will make sure Ethan is no longer the target of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.”

“You know I love you and your devious mind.”

“I hope you’ll be loving a lot more than my mind tonight since Ethan is staying in the boonies tonight.”

“He’s staying at the farm, hardly the boonies.”  Luke grinned as he gently ghosted his fingers up Reid’s arm.

“We live in Oakdale.  Half of the town is in the boonies, the other half is suburbia overload.”  Luke’s touch sent a shiver down Reid’s spine.  How could he still do this to him after all these years?

Luke stood up, guiding Reid to follow him to the sofa.  “It’s a pity.  This big, cushioned masterpiece hasn’t gotten much attention lately.”

Reid drew in a breath.  “Hazards of a home with an underage kid.”

“Shame really.”  Luke cupped the nape of Reid’s neck, toying with the wisps of hair standing on end.  “I hate to think of anything being neglected for too long.”  Luke’s velvet voice was making Reid dizzy.

He felt his face heating up at Luke’s gentle ministrations.

“Luke.”

“Yes?  Is there something you’d like?”

Reid threaded his fingers in Luke’s hair and crashed their lips together, his desire giving in to the seduction scene.  When Luke opened his mouth to invite Reid inside one of them moaned, Reid couldn’t tell who and didn’t care as long as he could continue to taste the man he loved, devour him.

Without separating, Reid’s hands traveled to the front of Luke’s shirt, opening each button, touching the soft skin beneath the opening, until they were all undone and the garment restricting his access to Luke’s body was hastily tossed aside.

Luke tugged at the hem of Reid’s shirt, quickly pulling it over his head, their lips parting for less than a second.

Unzipping his jeans, Reid murmured, “Luke, want you now.  I want to be inside you.”

Letting his own pants fall to the floor, Luke’s shining eyes stared at Reid.  “Please.”

Thoughts of school dramas and traumas temporarily disappeared as Reid gave into his passion in a way that was so familiar, yet new every time.  Entering Luke with nothing but his own spit to use as lube on his cock, Reid reveled in the heat of their coupling.  It never got old.

As he rocked in and out, Reid changed angles on every inward thrust.  Closing his eyes and gripping the sofa cushions, Luke arched his back.  “Oh God, Reid. Ahhh.”

Pressing in over Luke’s sensitive spot within, Reid watched his lover’s eyes close and his lips part.

“Love you, Luke.”  Reid followed his lover over the edge.

The two held each other close, panting until their breathing returned to normal.  Reid still couldn’t believe how he’d gotten so lucky ten years earlier.

Luke was everything.  Luke and Ethan were everything and Reid would make sure both of them remained safe and happy.
