The Movie

Chapter 6

“Is that for me too?” Luke propped himself up against his pillows, still naked and looking incredibly hot, yet poised with the wide eyes of the innocent.

“I know I’ve got a huge appetite, but yes, of course this is for you too!” Reid walked into their bedroom, carrying a huge tray laden with food, two glasses of orange juice and two cups of coffee. “I know I’ve been remiss over the years, but you must have had breakfast in bed at least once before I met you. You always love it when we order room service at hotels.”

Luke looked into Reid’s eyes and shook his head.

“You’ve brought breakfast to me in bed before. This is the first time you’ve been the one to sleep in when we both have the day off. It’s about time I turned things around and took care of you.”

“You really want to take care of me like this?”

“Am I in some kind of parallel universe here? I thought the idea was we take care of each other, although you always seem to be one step ahead of me.”

Luke lowered his head. “I can be a bit too much -- pretty pushy. I try not to crowd you.”

“Holy shit! Is that what you think?” Reid carefully put the large bed tray down on the floor to the side of the bed and climbed back in. He embraced Luke, holding him close, relieved and pleased that Ethan was still at the Hughes home so he and Luke could enjoy the morning together, sans clothing. “Damn it, Luke, a few hours with Mr. Mayer and you revert to that insecure kid I met when I came to this town. He’s the idiot, not you. He didn’t appreciate all the care you took to make his life whole and happy, and he sure as shit did nothing for you.”

“Happy isn’t the word I would use for Noah, especially when I interfered in his life.”

“That’s because what any normal man would call loving kindness, he thought of as interfering.” Reid cupped Luke’s chin, forcing them to look into each other’s eyes. “I have never thought of you as anything but overly generous, and am grateful every fucking day of my life that I found you. I just wish I could manage to do for you half of what you do to make my life easier.”

Luke crashed his lips against Reid’s, tangling his fingers through his hair. Reid felt the sting on his scalp, but the passion far outweighed any pain. He would never understand how Noah could have thought of Luke as a bother or nuisance. Luke was everything a man could ever want, and Reid was the one to get it all... and he didn’t share. Lucky for him, Mr. Mayer could be, and had been, a supreme fool.

Pulling back, Reid stroked Luke’s mussed up hair. It was still soft to the touch, despite being matted from a night filled with love, sex, and down and dirty fucking. “Luke, I’m closing in on forty years old, and am shocked and honored you still want to be with me, and thankful for all you do for me.”

Eyes wide and wet, Luke smiled through what were clearly happy tears. “I love you. I never want to love anyone else. I just sometimes wonder if I go overboard with trying to do things for you.”

“Some might say that, but I’m definitely not one of them.” Reid brushed a couple of stray tears from Luke’s cheeks, kissing the salty stains they left behind. “No one makes me feel as appreciated as you; I wouldn’t change a thing. Would you?”

Shaking his head, Luke clung to Reid, resting his head in the crook of his neck.

“It would seem this film has certainly brought up plenty of crap that should have been left in the dumpster years ago. Do you remember when I read the manuscript?”

Luke nodded against Reid’s shoulder.

“This is some of what I was afraid would happen, but now that we’re into it, I think it’s time to exorcise some of your own demons from the past. It’s especially important to see if we can open up Mr. Mayer’s eyes so he can see the past realistically.”

Luke sat up straight and gazed at Reid. “How?”

“I’m not sure yet, but we’ll come up with something together.”

“Don’t ever leave me, Reid. I need you in my life.”

“That goes double for me. I have no intention of ever letting you go.” Reid grabbed Luke’s left hand and pointed to his ring finger. “I wouldn’t have gone through the trouble of putting that thing there if this was temporary. As far as I’m concerned, there’s no way either of these rings come off unless they have to be surgically removed.”

“Is it wrong that I’m happy Noah needed a surgeon all those years ago?”

“Not in my book.” Reid smiled as he ghosted his fingers over Luke’s cheek and neck, then wrapped his arms around him once again.

As the two held each other close, Reid’s stomach growled. “It sounds like it’s time for us to enjoy some of the pampering you have in store for me.”

“Hopefully, Chris and Katie have a whole day’s worth of activities planned for the kids. I can think of a variety of ways to pamper you today.”

“I’m game, Dr. Oliver.”

“You’d better be, Mr. Snyder.”

*~*~*~*~*

“Reid, you’re incredible.”

“Take it down a peg, Luke; they’re scrambled eggs.”

Swallowing another mouthful, Luke leaned back as he sipped his coffee.

“I should probably heat up these coffees. They’re nearly room temperature. Not quite the indulgence I was hoping to give you.”

“I think it’s perfect.” Luke took another sip to demonstrate his point. “Thank you for making me feel important. Sometimes I can be pretty, uhm...”

“Self-deprecating? I’ve noticed, and it’s totally undeserved.” Reid took another gulp of his coffee, finishing off his mugful. He laced his fingers with Luke’s free hand. “You know, it’s not always going to be like this.”

“I know. My little brother has to come home sometime, but I’m enjoying it while it lasts.”

Reid snorted. “That’s not exactly what I was referring to, but it’s good to know that you enjoy spending time alone with me after all these years.”

His brow furrowed, Luke put down his cup and stared at Reid. “What are you talking about? I plan to spend the next sixty or seventy years with you and sure as hell don’t want my brother with us the whole time. Is there something wrong; something you’re not telling me?”

Realizing he’d alarmed Luke, Reid held his hand tighter. “No, no, nothing like that.” Biting his lip, Reid looked down. “I mean we’re not going to be able to have marathon sex like last night for too much longer.”

“Reid, I’m not following you. You’re scaring me. What’s going on?”

“Luke, I’m nearly forty and you’re going on twenty-nine. I hope I don’t disappoint you when I’m no longer this virile and you’re still ready for multiple rounds.” Reid hated to admit any of this, but if he was to have an honest relationship with his partner these things needed to be discussed openly.

“Is that all? God, you scared me. I thought you were sick or something.”

“No, that’s your domain. I’m the doctor in this family.”

Smiling, Luke put down his remaining coffee and cupped Reid’s cheek. “We are a family, and families grow and change together. Hell, every time my parents had another kid I had to learn how families can get better with age. I remember my parents thinking I’d hate sharing the limelight with Faith, but I may actually have wanted her more than my mom and dad.”

“So you’re saying you don’t mind if I get old and decrepit while you’re still young and active?”

“We’re twelve years apart, not fifty. And while I don’t think you have to worry about your virility at the moment, especially after last night’s performance,” Luke blushed, “if it makes you feel better, I wouldn’t be opposed to you taking one of those little blue pills they always advertise on TV.” His blush spreading down his chest, Luke continued. “Sex with you is one of my favorite things.”

Grinning, Reid kissed Luke. “I’m glad you don’t have any problem watching me grow older while you’re still young. And sex with you is definitely my favorite thing. It’s better than digging into brains or sandwiches.”

Luke laughed, but then quickly became serious. “While I’m a bit shocked that you have any insecurities at all, it’s comforting to know that I’m not the only one who has issues with his self worth.”

“I have no issues with my self worth, and neither should you for that matter. I do, however, have issues with keeping up with my young lover -- literally.”

“Lover?”

Reid chuckled. “My young husband.”

“That’s better... and that’s permanent. Don’t you ever forget it.”

“You’ll never let me; and I wouldn’t dare.”

Luke lifted the breakfast tray off the bed, setting it on the floor. He sprawled out on his back. “To give you a reminder of just how virile you still are, I think we both could use a refresher.”

“I know this sounds strange coming from me, but I’ve got to ask, how did you and Noah have so much time to argue with your voracious sex drive?”

“He and I didn’t have sex nearly as often as we should have.” Reid raised an eyebrow. “Don’t get me wrong, when we finally had sex, it was great. In fact, Noah couldn’t keep his hands off me for a couple of weeks, but it always seemed something got in the way, and it was usually Noah’s disappointment in something I did.”

“He was a class-A moron.”

“But you’re not.”

“I’m a genius, and I’m genius enough to know when to stop talking.” Reid lay on top of Luke, their bodies aligned as he pressed warm, wet kisses against Luke’s neck and cheeks until their lips met.

From then on in, it was all heat, hunger, touch, and passion, as all thoughts of inadequacy left both of them in exchange for their never ending desire for one another.

Reid knew there was still more for Luke and Noah to deal with, but for now the only two people in the world were he and Luke... and Reid planned to make the most of it while he was young enough to thoroughly enjoy his extremely hot husband.
