Part 2

“Boston is beautiful.”

“Just be thankful it’s not winter.  It can get pretty damn cold and windy during January and February.”  Reid’s tone of voice remained flat.  Luke couldn’t help worrying as they settled into their hotel room.

“At least the flight was good.”  Luke winked at Reid.

“Having a private jet with a bedroom doesn’t hurt.  How many times have we renewed our membership in the proverbial mile-high club?”

“Enough times that I’ve lost count.”  Luke licked his lips.

“Another plus for hooking up with Richie Rich.”

“Reid, we never hooked up.  I don’t think people who are married use that term.”  Luke was trying to find some way to distract Reid from their upcoming dinner date with Miriam Oliver.

“We’re not technically married.  Remember, we live in Illinois.  The state legislature is still fighting about legalizing the terror of same-sex marriage.  We’re goddamned domestic partners.”

Luke tried to ignore the sting of Reid’s words, knowing they were equally committed to their relationship.  He hung up their sports jackets in the small hotel closet, along with dress slacks, in case they decided to go out to a more exclusive restaurant during their week in Boston, Massachusetts.  “I know we’re not married in the eyes of the state we live in, but I think of us as married.”

“It helped me adopt the kid.”

“Is that the only reason we had a commitment ceremony and reception with all of our friends and family?”

“You mean all of your friends and family.”  Reid busied himself organizing the vanity counter, lining up the toothbrushes, hair brushes, combs, along with the myriad array of other toiletries they had brought with them.

“They’re yours too, and you know it.”  Luke put the last pieces of clothing in one of the bureau drawers and slowly approached Reid.  Leaning against the entryway to the dressing room just outside the oversized bathroom in their suite, Luke watched Reid methodically line up all the hair-care products.

“What are you staring at?”

“I’m looking at the love of my life.”  Luke took in Reid, gazing up and down his entire body.

“Didn’t you get enough on the plane?  For a guy who made me wait forever to fu--”

“Reid.”

“Okay.”  Reid sighed as a half-smile spread across his face.  “For a guy who made me wait forever to make love to him, you certainly are pretty damn insatiable.”

“Lucky for you.”

“Lucky indeed.  I plan to get our money’s worth out of this overpriced hotel.”

“I’m counting on it.”  Luke grinned.  It seemed he’d succeeded in distracting Reid, at least for the time being.

“I thought you wanted to see where I learned to be Dr. Oliver.”

“Some things can wait.”  Luke took the cologne Reid was holding out of his hand and placed it on the countertop.  “Harvard isn’t going anywhere.  It was the first university founded in this country.  I’m sure it’ll still be here in a couple of hours.  I have more important things to see at this moment, Dr. Oliver.”

Dr. Oliver.  I think we can dispense with the formalities, don’t you, Luke?”

Luke winked at Reid, remembering a pivotal moment from nearly six years earlier.  “You called me by my first name.”

“I know.  I wanted to.”  Reid pressed his hands against Luke’s cheeks, the tips of his fingers laced in the blond locks, and crashed their lips together.

Standing stock still, Luke returned the kiss, feeling the desire that never ceased when Reid touched him.

“Dr. Oliver, you kissed me.”  Luke smirked.  “You seem to do that when we’re in hotels.  Do you expect this to become a habit?”

“You bet I do.”

The time for games was over.  Luke had most definitely succeeded in focusing Reid in a much more positive direction.

The two each removed their clothing in record time and climbed on the raised bed, not bothering to remove the decorative spread.

Straddling Luke, Reid stared down.  He remained still and Luke could feel the blush creeping over his face and chest.  “Reid, are you okay?”

“Beautiful.”

Luke closed his eyes, a lump in his throat forcing him into silence.

“You are the most beautiful man I could ever imagine looking at and you’re all mine.”

Nodding his head, Luke raised his arms clasping his hands at the nape of Reid’s neck, pulling him into a tender kiss.  “All yours.  Love you.”

Stretching out full length, completely blanketing Luke’s body with his own, Reid began to move, their cocks rubbing together. All the while his tongue pressed its way past Luke’s lips, exploring, devouring.

“Oh God.  Reid.”

This was going to be fast and Luke knew it.  He wanted it that way.  Reid seemed to want it that way too.

Luke reached for the night table to grab the lube he had hoped they’d use sooner rather than later and put it in Reid’s hand.

Straddling Luke again, Reid squeezed the lube onto his fingers, tossing the tube off to the side and immediately began working Luke open.

Closing his eyes again, Luke began to get lost in the feeling of Reid’s fingers inside him, moving and spreading him, but he needed more.  Opening his eyes and gazing into his lover’s, Luke tugged at Reid’s arm.  “Need you inside me.”  Luke bent his knees, opening himself as much as possible, wanting Reid more than anything else.  He was still thrilled knowing there was no need for barriers and hadn’t been for nearly four years.

Reid smiled and spread the remaining gel on his hard cock.

Luke automatically raised his legs, wrapping them around Reid’s back.

Not needing further invitation, Reid pushed inside, stopping briefly as Luke arched his back.  “Love it when you’re in me.  Want you there always.”

Pushing in further, Reid soon began to thrust in and out, faster than usual.  “Always you.  So hot, so tight.  Only ever you.”

“Good.”

The rhythm was theirs alone.  This version, hard and fast.

Luke moaned as Reid grazed his prostate over and over.  “Oh God!”  Without a single stroke of either partner’s hand, Luke shot between them, streams of come marking them as one.

Reid pressed in one last time and stilled, filling Luke as only he could, as no one else ever would.  Luke felt possessed, taken, loved.  It was amazing.

Collapsing, Reid soon slipped out as the couple lay still, clinging to one another.  The only sounds their breathing returning to normal.

*~*~*~*~*

Harvard Medical School was more impressive than Luke expected.  The buildings were grand, old structures, but the interior was filled with the most modern, state of the art facilities he could imagine.

“I can see why you find Memorial so backward.  We’re still pushing for the rest of the hospital to catch up with the neuro wing.”

“Under my watch it’ll catch up pretty damn soon if I have anything to say about it.”

“I still can’t believe Chris agreed to be Assistant Chief of Staff when he finally recovered.”

“He wouldn’t have if Katie hadn’t done a number on him.”

“She guilted him into it.”  Luke’s eyes widened.

Reid chuckled.  “Basically, she and Kim reminded him of the importance of having a Hughes at the top.”

Luke stopped to face Reid.  He began to toy with the collar of his Polo shirt.  “But he’s not at the top.  You are.”  He couldn’t help the pride in his voice.  Standing beside Reid at the ceremony to award him the top position at the hospital was one of his fondest memories.

“I’m not sure which one of us is happier about that.  You certainly didn’t like all those days and nights I was practically living at the hospital.”

The edges of Luke’s lips turned upward.  “Now you know why I’m also glad there’s now an Assistant Chief of Staff.”

“You may be young, but you’re clever.  Must be why I tolerate you.”

“Tolerate!”  Luke pretended to be offended, but a quick kiss cut off that round of chatter.

“Reid, do you ever miss the East Coast?”

Reid tilted his head and furrowed his brow.

“I mean working in a big hospital like Mass General or NYU Medical Center.  Those are places where you would have everyone in the world focused on you as the last word in neurosurgery.”

Brushing his fingers gently over Luke’s cheek, Reid rested his forehead against Luke’s.  “I plan to have everyone in the world focused on my work in Illinois.  No one will pass over the neurology department or Dr. Reid Oliver, no matter where I am.”

Smiling, Luke nodded.  “I should have known better.”

“You’ll learn.”

Luke laughed.  He loved Reid’s bravado.  He loved feeling better about himself when he was with Reid.  Luke had started writing again.  He had the confidence to try and whenever he’d catch Reid watching him at his laptop, he relished the look of unconditional support in his partner’s eyes.

“I think we’d better get going, it’s almost seven o’clock and we have to meet your mother at the restaurant at eight.”

Reid nodded, remaining silent.  He took Luke’s hand and led him through the medical school’s campus as they made their way toward the T.

“We can take a cab if you’d feel more comfortable.”

Shaking his head, still holding hands, Reid guided Luke down the sidewalk toward the station.

“I hope your mother likes me.”

Reid huffed.  “She’ll probably like you better than she does me.  She’s part of the reason I left a rising career in Boston for Dallas.”

“I’m just glad I found you.”

“And dragged me kicking and screaming to Oakdale.”

“You’re not kicking and screaming anymore.”

“Well, except when you’re--”

“Reid!”  Luke’s eyes widened.

Laughing out loud, Reid squeezed Luke’s hand.  “Here’s the station.  Let’s get going.”

“It doesn’t matter what your mother says or how she acts.  I think you’re the most amazing man.”

“You’re prejudiced.”

“Yeah, I am.”  Luke kissed Reid as they waited for their train.
