I Do Again

Chapter 1

“I already agreed to attend the wedding, then I actually agreed to help your father pick out a new suit -- do I look like a queer eye for the straight guy -- and now they want us to do even more! Don’t they ever get tired of leaning on you? You’re their son, not their father!”

“Reid, relax.” Luke walked up behind Reid and wrapped his arms around his waist. “You know how much it means to my parents to get married. I’m sure this will just be another way we can support them.”

Thinking that if being held by Luke was what trying to convince him was all about it, Reid decided it wasn’t so bad at all. Turning in Luke’s arms he planted a quick smack on his lips. “I believe the term we need to use for your parents is re-married. I wonder if it’s like getting three strikes in bowling where the third time gets a special title.” Reid smiled rubbing his arms up and down Luke’s back.

“You’re comparing my parents marriage to something called a Turkey!” Despite his tone of voice, the grin on Luke’s face demonstrated he wasn’t missing the irony of Reid’s point about the third, or was it the fourth, marriage of Holden and Lily Snyder.

“Why do they even need to marry again? If they’re happy they should just move back in together. I can’t understand why that wouldn’t be enough. They can even go as far as exchanging pieces of jewelry to seal the deal. But why subject us to all the inconvenience, not to mention expense, of buying them gifts for a do-over?”

“Your romantic nature is taking my breath away.” Luke’s smile was beginning to falter.

“Okay. I get it. Romance is still not my best skill.” Reid leaned in and tenderly pressed his lips to Luke’s. “I’m not getting into the spirit of this grand Oakdale event. It just seems that so much is made of these major moments. They should be private and shared with people closest to the couple, not the entire town and his or her escort.”

“Look, Reid, I know you like keeping things between us intimate and more personal, and that’s okay with me. After attending more weddings than I’d like over the years it’s refreshing to know you and I have a secure relationship. I just want to do this for my parents.”

Combing his fingers through Luke’s hair, Reid nodded. “Who knows, maybe they’ll take our lead and get it right this time.”

“We’re doing this for them.”

“Wrong, Luke. You’re doing this for them; I’m helping you. If you’re happy, then I get the benefit of your enthusiasm and gratitude.” Reid winked.

“There was a time you lived on simple encouragement.”

Reid kissed Luke along his jawline, working his way to Luke’s lobe where he gently nipped and licked before whispering in his partner’s ear. “For the record, encouragement sucks. I prefer concentrating on the positive reinforcement I received after the encouragement stage ended.”

“Ahhh.” Luke’s head fell back as Reid ran his tongue over his exposed neck. “Reid?”

“Yes, Luke.”

“For the record, I’m much happier and more satisfied now too.”

“Good. Let me show you how satisfied I can make you.” Reid crashed his lips against Luke’s.

Luke opened his mouth. The two hungrily tasted and explored one another. Kissing Luke was a pleasure Reid never would get enough of. “Luke, bed.”

“Reid.” Kiss, tongue, heat. “Reid.” More kissing, more urgency. “Reid.” More heat, more Luke... until Luke pushed Reid away. “My parents are expecting us at the house in ten minutes and we live fifteen minutes away from them.”

“Not if I speed and make all the lights.”

Luke tilted his head. “I’d like to make it there in one piece. Besides, what I have planned for later should not be rushed.”

Dropping his hands to his sides, Reid lowered his head. “Damn. I thought the encouragement period in our lives was long past.”

“It is. Now it’s sex and making love one to four times a day.”

“I like the four times a day program the best.”

“I bet you do, but we do actually have to work.”

Reid chuckled. “You don’t have to work. You choose to work.”

“And you’d hate me if I had turned out to be the Richie Rich you thought I was when we first met.”

“Yeah, you’re right.” Reid sighed. He then smirked, cupping the bulge in Luke’s jeans. “So I guess this will have to wait until later?”

“You don’t play fair.” Luke brushed Reid’s hand away but kept their fingers laced together. “We wait and then tonight I give you the ride of your life.”

“Coming from a cowboy that’s a lot to look forward to.”

Winking, Luke spread his most flirtatious smile across his face. “You can count on it.”

Reid’s eyes widened. “Yee-haw!” He squeezed Luke’s hand, still in his. “Let’s get this visit over with and find out what the bride and groom need us to do this time.”

“I have to admit, I sometimes wish Abigail and Aaron lived closer. Sometimes being the oldest within reach gets old.”

“Tell me about it.” Reid grabbed his light jacket as the two left to go find out what new and significant wedding dilemma they were now expected to fix for the bride and groom, who he still thought should just run off and elope. A third... or fourth wedding was just gift-grubbing in Reid’s opinion, but these were Luke’s parents and he actually liked them, especially Holden, most of the time.

Reid was just going to have to spend the day looking forward to his evening ride. Being in a relationship and living with Luke Snyder did have its benefits. He may have kept him waiting in the beginning, but once they broke the ice, he discovered his partner was insatiable -- and still had the ability to blush when they talked about sex. Noah certainly threw away the best and Reid was happy to make sure Luke knew he was valued and appreciated every day. And not just in bed.
