Headaches

Chapter 2

“Last night was amazing.”  Reid rolled over to face Luke and began gently ghosting his fingers over his cheek, neck, shoulder, and down his arm.  “I wasn’t sure I could keep up with you.  Getting rid of my mother certainly did wonders for our libidos.”

Luke’s smile and blush combined would have enticed Reid to go for another round, but knowing how exhausted he was, meant his partner’s hot ass was probably sore as hell.  The last thing he wanted to do was cause Luke discomfort in any way.

“It didn’t hurt that Miri and Bobby only woke up once, and at the same time for a change.”

Reid grinned.  “It seems all of us were up, and ready for action, at about two in the morning.”  As unlikely as it would seem possible, Luke’s face reddened even further.

Inching closer to Reid, Luke buried his head in the crook of his neck, peppering Reid with soft kisses.  When they wrapped their arms around each other the movement brought their cocks into alignment; Luke moaned as Reid, unable to stop himself, began to move.

The friction alone increased the urgency.  Reid held Luke close, pressing their lips together, his tongue seeking, and gaining, entry.  He needed to be inside Luke in any manner he could.  Reid could feel Luke’s fingers digging into his back as their woodies rubbed against each other, heating up their entire bodies.  Reid loved knowing how much he could still turn Luke on with just a touch or a word.  “You are so damn hot,” Reid whispered in Luke’s ear.

It shocked him that after ten years with the same person, the sex, need, and desire only increased.  He wondered for a brief moment if they were an anomaly of nature, to be written up in the medical journals, but decided this miracle was something better kept to themselves alone.

The rest of the world would have to find their own version of his Luke to keep them full of life.

Luke began to writhe beneath Reid, sending out waves of desire.  Their movements sped up.  Reid was hungry for more, crashing his lips against Luke’s and thrusting his tongue in and out, mimicking the rhythm of their bodies.

Reid could feel Luke’s body stiffen beneath him as Luke pulled away from the kiss and cried out his name.  Reid felt the moisture spreading between them and it took him over the edge, moaning as he once again kissed Luke’s swollen lips, knowing they matched his own.

Reid’s energy sapped, he collapsed on top of Luke.  The couple lay together, sated.

“After last night, I didn’t expect we’d get another chance like this.”  Luke nuzzled his cheek against Reid’s.

Reid slowly lifted his head to look into Luke’s eyes.  Brushing the hair off his forehead he slowly rolled them onto their sides never breaking eye contact.  “Our kids are cooperating so their dads don’t become old, sexless fuddy-duddies prematurely.”

“They’re so intelligent for newborns.”

“I can’t believe they’re already four weeks old.”

“I can’t believe we finally got rid of Grandmother and Miriam.  I can tolerate them far longer than you can, but a month of them day in and day out was getting to me.”

“Especially since you didn’t have the excuse of having to run to the hospital.”

Luke chuckled.  “I think they both knew you were overusing that excuse by the third week, especially when you told them you were heading in to give a lecture to the nurses about IV maintenance for long-term care patients.”

Grinning, Reid continued to run his fingers through Luke’s hair.  He was definitely due for one of his haircuts but had been avoiding it in lieu of child care.  “My strategy worked at the time.  I got out of the house and away from Hurricanes Miriam and Lucinda.”

“I’m glad we’re finally going to have a day without them.  Maybe we can do something with all the kids.”  Luke leaned into Reid’s touch.  “Mmm, that feels nice.”

“You feel nice.”  Reid took a deep breath.  “You’re so beautiful.  I can’t believe you don’t get tired of me.”

Luke smiled.  “Reid, that’s ridiculous.  I could never get tired of you.  I love you so much.”

“Even though I’m beginning to sprout a few grey hairs?”

Luke’s eyes widened.

“I’m not that vain.  I’ve seen them in the mirror.  I thought about pulling them, but then I’d go bald.”

“As far as I’m concerned, you look the same way you did the day I met you, and I’m more in love with you today than the day we married.”

“Luke, you have to be the most overly romantic person in all of Oakdale, and that’s saying a mouthful.”

“And you love it, despite your sarcastic remarks.”

“I do.”  Reid bit his lip.  “And I love you even more.”

“I know.”

Before Reid or Luke could think about anything else they heard a wail through the nursery monitor.  “That yell would be coming from your daughter.”

“How come she’s my daughter when she screams and she’s your daughter when she’s all dressed up and I bring her to the hospital for a visit?”

“Because I’m an excellent strategist, and a genius, remember?”

Luke laughed as the two slowly got out of bed.  “We really need to clean up.  I’ll go get Miri and hope she hasn’t woken up her brother yet, and you take a shower, then we’ll switch.”

“After we’re cleaned up and the midgets are fed, let’s call Ethan and plan something together.  We don’t get too many weekends with no obligations these days.”

“Reid, do you think Ethan’s okay?”

“Why do you ask?”

“I don’t know.  He seems fine with the babies, but something seems off lately.”

“I haven’t noticed anything, but he has been spending a lot of time at the farm.  Let’s talk to him about it today.”

“Why don’t we surprise him?”  Luke was practically bouncing as he pulled on a pair of scrub bottoms Reid had given him.  “Let’s not call.  We can go to the farm with some fresh pastries and a picnic basket.   We’ll visit with Ethan, Natalie, and Grandma Emma and then take Ethan for a picnic at the pond.”

“Fresh pastries, sandwiches, and family.”  Reid paused and smiled.  “I think I can stand family time with pastries and lunch waiting in the wings.”

“If nothing else you’re consistent.”

“I consider nourishment a very important component to keeping up my strength both in and out of the operating room.  After all, I use up my energy in a variety of ways.”  Reid turned toward the bed raising an eyebrow.

“Reid!”

“Go get Miri.  I’ll be in and out of the shower in five minutes.”

“You surgeons are so fast.”

“Aren’t you lucky we are?”

Luke laughed out loud as he left the room.

Reid thought about Ethan.  He was convinced they hadn’t been neglecting him since the babies came into their lives.  Thinking about it, he did wonder if something had been bothering him.  It was probably some teacher or class that he wasn’t doing as well in as he should.

Deciding not to dwell on unfounded theories, Reid made his way into the bathroom to shower.  They would see Ethan soon enough and find out if there really was anything to be concerned about.

Just as he turned the water on, he heard the cry of a second child.  “Shit!”  He called out to Luke.  “I’ll be as fast as I can.”

With Miriam on her way back to Boston, it was time for the dads to be completely in charge.  Oh well, how bad could it be.  Two intelligent adult men and one very mature and responsible young teen against two children weighing less than a total of twenty pounds.  How hard could parenting on their own really be?
