Painting truly fills me up. Painting those I love fills me up and makes me feel complete.

I’ve painted Brian so many times I can’t even begin to count. Not all the painting would be recognizable as Brian but those are sometimes more dear than the others that are realistic portraits.

Today I painted a portrait that I realized was long overdue. I’d sketched Debbie a number of times but never actually had the yen to paint her until today.

I look at the completed canvas and realize, maybe for the first time, how beautiful Debbie really is -- not just on the inside (I’ve known that for years), but on the outside.

Her features exude warmth and love. I just hope I’ve done them, done her justice.

I’ve always known there was something special about her. She accepts people for who they are with no interest in changing them. People flock to her as if she were the fucking gay Pied Piper.

Then I take a closer look at the painting and laugh.

There’s obviously more then one Sunshine in our family. Her smile would light up a room, almost as much as it lights up all of our hearts.
