The Reason

Brian Kinney, the greatest businessman Pittsburgh has ever known, at least in his mind, came barreling through the loft door late one Friday after having a stressful work week. He and Justin had plans for the long weekend. Brian was looking forward to three uninterrupted days of fucking.

"Sorry, I'm late, Sunshine. Let me get out of this suit, then we're outta here!" Brian marched toward the bedroom, stripping along the way. He didn't hear the mumbled reply from Justin who was sitting on the sofa looking rather grim. As Brian let one boot drop to the floor, the unusual quiet became slightly alarming. He hobbled to the bedroom door to investigate.

"Justin?" Justin grunted a response. "Justin, you want to tell me what's wrong?"

"What makes you think something's wrong?" Justin couldn't see Brian's face but he had a good idea of Brian's expression.

"Justin, we've been planning this little weekend for quite some time. I distinctly remember a very happy blond boy ass bouncing on my cock this morning. Your agenda for my cock and your ass was rather extensive. I believe it involved several days of intense study. Now, what has changed since then?" Brian couldn't hide the sarcasm but Justin heard Brian's concern.

"I got a phone call from Daphne." Justin hesitated. He and Daphne, while still close, hadn't seen each other in a long time. Her pursuit of a medical career had taken her far away. Brian rolled his eyes, waiting for more information.

"While I'm young, Sunshine," Brian snarked.

"She was doing some procedure and got hurt. Her parents are out of the country and she doesn't have any close friends there. They want to keep her in the hospital for a couple of days and she's scared. I'm worried, that's all."

'Bullshit!' Brian thought to himself, Justin wasn't just worried, he was scared for his friend and wanted to go to her.

"So why are you sitting on the sofa and not half way to Bismark or wherever the fuck Daphne is?"

"Brian, we've been planning this weekend for months. Are you that willing to throw it all away?" Brian went back into the bedroom to finish removing his suit. He came down the steps in bare feet and jeans.

"Justin, I would like nothing better than to say to you, fuck it, let's go anyway and you could keep in touch with Daphne via the phone. But we both know that you'd be one miserable little Sunshine and I wouldn't get laid. So, go pack your little bag while I call the airlines and a cab."

"Brian..."

"You can thank me later, when you get back."

"Brian? Why, would you do this?"

"Because."

"Oh that's an intelligent answer." Justin stood waiting for Brian to give him the real reason. Brian tried the glare but it wasn't working. He crossed the room and drew Justin into a hug. Brian softly whispered into Justin's hair.

"Because, Sunshine, Daphne is your best friend, you love her and you need to be with her. A long time ago someone I loved got hurt and my best friend changed his plans to sit with me while I waited in the hospital. Plans change, Justin, and we have a lifetime together to make more." Justin looked up to see Brian's eyes. The love they held was almost overwhelming. Justin wrapped his arms around the taller man.

"Thank you," Justin whispered into Brian's chest. Brian let them have their moment then he gently pushed Justin away as he patted Justin's rump.

"Go, go get ready while I work miracles on the phone." Brian turned away as Justin went to get ready. Brian made magic and within the hour Justin had his confirmation number in hand and a cab waiting to take him to the airport.

"I can't believe you're taking this so well. No cursing, no getting all quiet and ignoring me," Justin said as they stood at the door. Brian did ignore Justin's little diatribe, hugging the boy again then giving him a sweet kiss that promised more at Justin's return. Justin pushed back to look up into those hazel eyes, the unspoken question hanging in the air.

"I have my reasons," Brian said softly as he turned Justin around to point him toward the stairs. Justin flashed that smile as he headed down the stairs. Brian rolled his eyes, grinned then gave Justin a royal wave. Brian heard Justin's distinctive giggle as he slid the heavy door shut. "One very important reason," Brian murmured to himself as he walked to the phone to call out for dinner for one.

The Reason

I'm not a perfect person

There's many things I wish I didn't do

But I continue learning

I never meant to do those things to you

And so I have to say before I go

That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me

To change who I used to be

A reason to start over new

and the reason is you

I'm sorry that I hurt you

It's something I must live with everyday

And all the pain I put you through

I wish that I could take it all away

And be the one who catches all your tears

That's why I need you to hear

I've found a reason for me

To change who I used to be

A reason to start over new

and the reason is you

and the reason is you

and the reason is you

and the reason is you

I'm not a perfect person

I never meant to do those things to you

And so I have to say before I go

That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me

To change who I used to be

A reason to start over new

and the reason is you

I've found a reason to show

A side of me you didn't know

A reason for all that I do

And the reason is you
