Soak Up The Sun

(Inspired by the music of Sheryl Crow)

Brian was in a bit of a pissy mood. It was Saturday. He had his usual Saturday morning plans starting with a high protein breakfast a la Justin then the gym and then meeting up with the guys at the diner for lunch. A typical relaxing Saturday to unwind from a week's worth of work related stress, time to catch up on the latest gossip and then back home to spend some quality time with Justin. But alas, the force nor the gods were with Brian this Saturday morning.

He was about to pounce on a certain bouncy blond in his bed when his phone rang. Brian was going to ignore it but something made him pick it up.

"What?"

"Brian, it's Cynthia."

"Cynthia, what the fuck is going on?"

"The contracts we faxed last night, Remsen never got them even though I'm holding the confirmation in my hand. They'll honor the contract but they need to speak to you and now."

"Can you conference me in?"

"I could but they have some other questions regarding the ad."

"Stall them. I'll be there in ten minutes."

"Okay, Bri."

Brian rolled over to face a set of soulful blue eyes and a sunny smile.

"Go, fix it then hit the gym. We have the rest of the week end." Justin said, his smile never wavering. Brian kissed his blond on the lips then on the nose and jumped from the bed.

Several hours later a weary but satisfied Brian returned to the loft. The crisis at Kinnetik was averted, he managed a passable work out at the gym and he was even able to catch up with a few of the guys at the diner. Let the quality time with Justin begin!

"Justin?" Brian called out as he opened the loft door. Silence was his answer. Brian put his gym bag in his closest and went to the refrigerator for a bottle of water. Taped to a bottle was a note in Justin's scrawl. "The roof," was all it read.

Brian shook his head. What the fuck is Justin doing on the roof? Granted the day was sunny and bright but it was November for fuck's sake and getting cold. While the sun was out a light coat or heavy sweater would suffice but more was needed when the sun went down. Brian finished his water, grabbed his coat and went up to the roof to find his partner.

"Justin?"

"Over here."

"What are you doing up here?"

"Don't know. I had a case of the blues so I decided to soak up some sun."

"Justin, it's fucking cold."

"Yes but the sun feels good. And look, I have a sleeping bag, a thick quilt and I'm bundled up. It's rather toasty under here. Care to join me?" Justin said with a waggle of his eye brows.

"Don't mind if I do." Brian drawled as he slipped under the blanket and snuggled close to Justin on the sleeping bag. As usual, Justin was right, it was toasty. They lay together bathing in the warmth of the Autumn sun. A crisp breeze reminding them that winter was quickly approaching.

Brian was enjoying the quiet. He and Justin barely said two words as they lay holding hands under the quilt and watching stray clouds float on by. But the sun was starting to set and the temperature began to drop. It was time to go inside.

"Brian, the sun's going down. We should go in."

"A few more minutes." Brian replied as he pulled Justin on top of him and began to feather soft kisses on the younger man's face. Justin melted into the older man's embrace. It was times like these that Justin had no doubts about the love Brian had for him. Brian tightened his hold as Justin returned the kisses. Brian carefully rolled them over, keeping them on the sleeping bag, covering Justin with his own body to keep Justin warm. Brian wanted to make love to Justin but it was far too cold even in their little cocoon.

Before releasing Justin, Brian sighed and gazed lovingly into Justin's clear blue eyes.

"What?" Justin asked, his sweet smile lighting the dimly lit roof. Brian smiled back and whispered into Justin's ear.

"Just soaking up the sun."
