Birthday in Bed?

“What the fuck is this?” Brian asked as he cracked open an eye.

“A birthday cupcake,” Justin replied with an award winning smile or the closest thing he could muster. He thought Brian would be pleased but now he wasn’t so sure.

“What makes you think it’s my birthday?” Brian wasn’t really sure what day it was but he was pretty sure it wasn’t his birthday.

“Some lady called and when the machine picked up she said, 'Congratulations!' I thought maybe it was your birthday?” Justin said pensively.

Brian gingerly laid back down trying not to dislodge the pitiful looking cupcake balancing precariously on the duvet.

“It’s not...and um, why are you here?” Brian looked up at Justin, with both eyes this time. The smile on the kid’s face fell.

“You said I could stay,” the boy said in a whisper. Brian felt a twinge in his chest and it wasn’t from the E or the Beam.

“Oh yeah,” Brian tried to smile. “This, uh, cupcake doesn’t come with coffee, does it?”

“I couldn’t figure out your coffeemaker,” Justin began. Brian’s eyes darkened with annoyance. “But I ran to Starbucks!” Justin quickly added. Brian sighed with appreciation.

Justin grabbed the cupcake and sat up. He reached over the side of the bed for a couple of paper towels and the large latte. He waited for Brian to sit up, watching every move that Brian made with large blue eyes.

Cup in hand, Brian took a long satisfying sip. “Much better,” he groaned then took another sip. “You’re not having any?” Brian arched a brow.

Justin shrugged, the coffee was so expensive that he just about had enough for the cupcake. “I’m not really into coffee,” he made his excuse.

Brian studied the young face. “Stay here,” he commanded, handing the coffee and cupcake back to Justin. Justin watched Brian’s beautifully naked body get out of bed, walk down the steps and into the kitchen. He came back with a coffee mug and plates.

“Give me,” Brian took the top off the Starbucks cup and poured a generous helping into the mug then handed the mug back to Justin. He then split the cupcake in two, giving the kid the bigger piece.

Brian made himself comfortable, forcing himself to eat the sickly sweet confection.

“Mmm. Mm,” Brian said then watched the sun shine on Justin’s face. “This is the best birthday cupcake I ever had.” Justin’s smile became brighter.

“Now what shall I have for dessert, Sunshine?” Brian asked when they finished their feast.

Justin’s smile was all ablaze as he pounced.
