Tell

They’d put the narcocorrido case to bed, but Nick wasn’t getting any sleep. He was still high on adrenaline after the bust in the bar. That could’ve been ugly—

He heard Greg pull up and rolled out of bed. They could have breakfast and take a shower together. Greg would definitely wear him out and then he’d finally get some rest.

He pulled on a pair of sweats and was walking to the kitchen when Greg let himself in.

Okay, now it was gonna get ugly because Greg was furious.

Nick knew it was pointless to ask who told him. No one knew not to tell him. Instead, he gambled on the real emotions behind the twisted mask and opened his arms.

Greg’s face crumbled and he launched himself at Nick, squeezing him in a tight hug.

Nick dozed contently until the sun rose high enough to shine directly on the sofa and he started sweating a little from the extra heat. He shifted to ease the pins and needles starting to tingle in his leg and Greg lifted his hips a few inches for Nick to get comfortable before resting on top of him again. It was completely instinctual, the other man hadn’t opened his eyes and his breathing hadn’t changed. He was still asleep, and still wrapped around Nick like a shield.

Nick closed his eyes and went back to sleep.
