The dark haired boy stood alone on the bridge, leaning against the railing and staring into the water. Right now, he hated his life.

He felt conflicted, out of place amidst his friends. They thought he was strange. Hell, he thought he was weird.

The girl of his dreams wasn't for him; she wouldn't love the real him.

He knew that his parents loved him, but he was growing up now and wanted someone of his own to love.

He wanted someone who understood him and would give him a fairytale ending.

He closed his eyes and made a wish.

The bald young man drove recklessly along the deserted Kansas highway, brooding silently about how much he detested his life right now.

His so-called friends just wanted to use him for what he could do for them. They didn't give a shit about the real him.

He didn't even want to think about his non-existent love life.

And his dad? His father just wanted to mold him into the perfect heir, mindlessly doing what he was told to do.

He wanted someone who understood him and would give him a fairytale ending.

He closed his eyes and made a wish.

The accident happened as though in slow motion, sending them both barreling into the murky river below. One was unconscious, the other frantically attempting to save him.

Once they were on the bank, the boy didn't think, just acted. Soon the young man coughed and expelled the dirty water he'd inhaled. After catching his breath, he rolled over, confused, and looked up at his savior.

Blue eyes met green and suddenly, the world righted itself and everything in it was all right.

They both knew, deep down, that their wishes had been answered.

It was their destiny to be together.
