The Origin of Love
Things were going slow but steady for Brian and Justin. Brian was tricking less and less, and he was talking more and more with Justin. Justin was learning to ask less of Brian and not nag him so much. Sure they had the occasional argument, but then what couple didn't?
Tonight was what Brian called Lazy Night. No clubbing, no working, no cooking, no fucking. Just laying together and enjoying each other's presence. Brian was stretched out on the couch watching The Birdcage with Justin, who was sitting on the floor sketching Nathen Lane as Starina.
"Any new sketches for me, Sunshine?" Brian asked, having told Justin about the one's he was reading before.
"Yeah, I do actually." Justin said, flipping to the sketch and handing it to Brian.
Brian sat up and looked at the sketch. It was of Justin with blood dripping from his blue eyes lik tears, gazing down at Brian who had splatters of blood from Justin's tears.
"Last time I saw you, we had just split in two. You was looking at me, I was looking at you. You had a way so familiar but I could not recognize. 'Cause you had blood on your face, I had blood in my eyes."
"This is really disturbing, Justin." Brian said after a few minutes before handing it back to Justin.
"It's just my way of getting things off my chest, Brian. Sometimes it's easier than saying it out loud, you know?" Justin said, looking up at his lover.
"Yeah, I know, Baby." Brian said, brushing a kiss against Justin's forehead. "Don't stay up too late. You have school in the morning."
Brian got up and headed to bed, contemplating what the words and the sketch meant. What was it that Justin was trying to say in it?
