Long Grift

Brian watched as Justin slept on the couch. It'd been a month since Ethan broke up with him and kicked him out of the apartment. Brian happened to be driving down Liberty Avenue when he found Justin wandering the street. All his things were in a duffle bag, his backpack, and a suitcase on wheels. At first, Justin refused to let Brian help him yet again, but in the end he gave in and Brian took him to the loft. Brian sighed and watched the sleeping teen for a few more minutes before picking up the sketch pad that he found on the couch. Settling back against the pillows, Brian started to flip through the pages. Most of the sketches were the usual things Justin drew but then he found Justin's newest sketch and stared at it.

It was of Justin watching the retreating form of Ethan. There was also some writing at the bottom in Justin's chicken scratch.

"I'm just another John you gyped, another sucker stiffed. I'm not in the script to your long, long grift."

Brian eventually fell asleep contemplating the phrase under the sketch.

Justin woke up to find himself alone in the bed. For some strange reason it became a new routine with them. Brian would put Justin in the bed before he left for work in the morning. Justin thought Brian was trying to tell him something but he refused to read into it. Stretching lazily, Justin got up and headed into the bathroom. He groaned when he found the chore list from Brian for the day. Instead of paying Brian rent for staying with him, Justin had to help the maid if she was there, do the laundry, and cook.

Today was laundry day.

Shaking his head, Justin stripped and took a nice warm shower. When he was done, he dried off and got dressed before gathering up all the dirty laundry and heading down to the laundry room with his sketch pad. Once there, he started to seperate the clothes into three piles; whites, colors, and dry clean only. With that finally done, he started on the whites. He sat down in a chair and started on a new sketch as he waited.
