Meant To Be

Chapter 10

Later that night, Justin found himself at Michael’s apartment hoping that the man would understand and still want to be friends. He had called him earlier, arranging for them to get together alone. Michael suggested renting a movie and watching it at his place so Justin agreed, knowing that he had to tell him tonight. He was sitting on the couch, waiting for Michael to get off the phone when he started to panic. He never had to break up with anyone before and he wasn’t sure what to say. Justin was so lost in thought the he was surprised to find Michael off the phone and sitting next to him.

“So, what do you want to watch? I have a lot of movies to pick from. What are you in the mood for?” Michael asked. He sensed that something was on Justin’s mind, but he didn’t think he wanted to know what it was.

“Michael, I think we better talk first.” Justin said, hoping that things would be okay between them. He really liked Michael and wanted to remain friends.

“Uh oh, that doesn’t sound good.” Michael replied, suddenly looking serious.

“I just don’t think this is working out between us. I mean, I really like you, but I think it would be better if we were just friends.” Justin said, wanting Michael to understand.

“Friends? I’ve got plenty of friends! I should have known that this would happen. What was I thinking, picking up some teenage twink off the street! Get out!” Michael exclaimed, looking at Justin with hatred in his eyes.

“Michael, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you…I just…” Justin tried to explain, trying to get Michael to see reason. He had a feeling that things weren’t going to go well, but he wasn’t prepared for the anger he saw in Michael’s eyes.

“Just get out! I don’t want to see you again!” Michael yelled, walking into the bathroom and slamming the door.

Justin sat there for a minute in shock, unable to believe the way Michael reacted. ‘Well that went well,’ he thought to himself before getting up to leave. He walked over to the bathroom door, needing to say something before he left.

“Michael, for what it’s worth, I am sorry. I really would like to be friends. If you change your mind, give me a call. You know my number.” He said softly. He waited a few moments, but once he was sure that Michael was going to come out, he left.

Thankful that he had borrowed Daphne’s car, Justin drove over to Brian’s, needing to see the man. He was still shaking from the confrontation with Michael and wanted Brian’s reassurance that they were doing the right thing. Brian buzzed him up and had the door open for him when he got there. He could hear Brian’s voice coming from the bedroom and walked over to see who he was talking to. Justin saw that he was on the phone and started to turn away to give him some privacy when he realized he was talking to Michael. He froze in his spot and listened to the one-sided conversation.

“Mikey, calm down. So he only wants to be friends, what’s the big deal?” Brian asked, locking his eyes with Justin’s

“No, Mikey, you can never have too many friends. Wouldn’t it be nice to hang out with someone other then Ted or Emmett? Stop being such a drama princess.”

Justin couldn’t help but feel terrible for hurting Michael. He looked at Brian for another few seconds before turning around and heading for the door. He knew this wasn’t a good idea and needed to get away. As he reached the door, he felt Brian’s arm come around his waist and he stopped to lean back into his embrace.

“Listen Mikey, I have to go. There is someone at the door that I need to see. Just think about what I said and I’ll call you tomorrow. Bye, Mikey.” Brian said, turning off his phone and putting it in his pocket.

“Just where do you think you are going?” Brian asked, spinning Justin around and kissing him deeply. He had been thinking about the blond all day, waiting to have him back in his arms. There was no way he was going to let him walk out. He knew the blond was upset by what had happened with Michael earlier, but Brian couldn’t let him give up on what they were building.

“Brian, we can’t do this. Michael is so upset and I feel so bad. We can’t continue to see each other right now. It will only hurt him when he finds out.” Justin replied, his voice full of emotion. He didn’t want things with Brian to end but he didn’t know what else to do. He was beginning to regret ever going to Liberty Avenue. If he had never met Michael none of this would have happened. Although, that would mean he would never have met Brian. Meeting Brian was one of the best things that had happened to him. He was so lost in thought that Brian’s voice startled him.

“What the fuck is that supposed to mean? You don’t want us to see each other anymore because Michael threw a temper tantrum? That’s just the way he is. He’ll get over it in a few days and move on.” Brian growled, trying to calm himself down. He could see the pain in those blue eyes and felt bad about yelling, but he knew the way Michael was, and there was no doubt that by the end of the week Justin would be old news.

“Brian, you didn’t see the look on his face at his apartment. I think he was really hurt. I’m sorry. You know this isn’t what I want. I just don’t want to make things worse. Maybe in a couple of months we could…” His words were cut off when Brian’s lips found his in a heated kiss. He parted his lips in shock, only to have Brian’s tongue plunge inside, taking his breath away. Justin wanted to pull away, but he felt the man’s hands rip open his pants and take his cock roughly, exposing him. The force Brian was using frightened Justin, but aroused him at the same time. He let out a whimper at the mixed emotions he was feeling. Only Brian could make him feel like his whole body was on fire and Justin let himself enjoy the passion he was feeling at the older man’s touch.

Brian couldn’t think of anything except the fear he felt at Justin’s words. He needed to do something to stop the kid from walking away from him. He covered his mouth in a forceful kiss, needing to feel the warm mouth joined with his. When Justin’s lips parted, Brian took advantage of the invitation and plunged his tongue inside, enjoying the taste that assaulted him. He reached down and yanked open his pants, wanting to feel the cock that he knew would be hard for him. He wrapped his hand around the throbbing member, jerking it in a steady motion, knowing the boy was close. He knew he had to stop himself before he took Justin right there on the floor. He pulled back and looked into Justin’s face, seeing the passion he knew the boy was feeling.

“Do you still think that we should stop seeing each other? Can you just walk away from that?” Brian asked, his breathing still heavy from the kiss they had shared. He needed to show Justin that what they had was too powerful to give up.

“Brian,” Justin replied, trying to get his body under control. As much as he wanted to do the right thing and walk away from the mess he was in, he was beginning to doubt his ability to turn away from the one person that made him feel alive.

“I need a drink, want one?” Brian asked, making his way over to the bottle of beam on his counter. He grabbed two glasses and went to sit on the couch, filling each one then downing his own, just to fill it up again. After repeating the process a couple more times, Brian looked back at Justin who was still standing by the door, and could see a mixture of passion and confusion in his eyes. He didn’t like seeing the boy so torn with emotion, especially since he was the cause of some of that emotion.

“Justin, come here.” Brian demanded, taking another drink. He needed to feel the familiar buzz the he got from beam to give him the courage to say what he needed to say to Justin. It may be the cowardly thing to do, but this was all so new to Brian, and he knew that he needed the added push to go after what he wanted. He wasn’t about to let Justin walk away from him out of some sort of noble sacrifice.

Justin walked over and sat down next to Brian. He was so confused by what he was feeling. He didn’t want to upset Michael, but more importantly, he didn’t want to come between the two friends. If Michael’s outburst was any indication, he was really upset by Justin’s confession. Once he figured out that Justin had left him for Brian, he was bound to be hurt. He looked over at Brian and was startled by the emotion reflecting in the man’s eyes. Justin could get lost in those hazel eyes if he allowed himself the chance, but he needed to make things right. He felt that once he got Brian to see where he was coming from, he would agree that they needed to put Michael‘s feeling before their own. He opened his mouth to speak but was stopped by the other man’s words.

“Justin, if you don’t want us to see each other anymore, that’s up to you. I can’t really tie you to my bed…although, that would be kind of interesting.” Brian laughed. He took one more drink, feeling the familiar buzz take hold of him. “Just make sure it’s what you want. I have opened myself up to you more than I have to anyone else in my life. I can’t just sit back and wait for things to happen for us, that’s just not me.” Brian explained, confused by all that he was feeling. He didn’t want to make it sound like an ultimatum, but he knew he couldn’t sit around, waiting for Justin to be ready to move forward. They needed to focus on what they had now and see where it would lead them,

“Brian, you know that’s not what I want. I want you.” Justin admitted. He could tell by Brian’s words that he had to take a chance now or risk losing the man that he loved. He didn’t think that was a chance he could take.

“Then have me. We can work the rest out later.” Brian replied, pulling Justin with him as he stood up. They walked hand in hand to the bedroom, both of them unsure of where their future was headed, but knowing that they had to give their relationship a chance.
