Love

Chapter Six

“How was the date?” Daphne asked as soon as Justin walked into the kitchen.

Justin couldn’t help but smile. “Great, Daph. We had a picnic and talked. Of course we have to get home before sunrise, but then we talked some more before I fell asleep.”

“Any kissing?” Daphne asked with a smirk.

Justin nodded. “Oh, yeah! Boy can he kiss!”

“Well,” said a chuckling Daphne, “he does have over a hundred years of experience.”

Spike walked in, making sure to stay away from the windows. “Talking about me?”

“Of course,” Justin said as Spike leaned down for a kiss. Daphne had to smile at seeing her best friend so happy. She didn’t think she’d seen him so happy since the first night he met Brian, two years before.

“Anything planned tonight?” Spike asked Justin.

Justin smiled. “Not a thing. It’s my day off, but I do need to go pick up my paycheck.”

When Spike liked or loved someone, he was possessive and it was no different with Justin. It was even truer with Justin because he knew he loved the blond more than he had ever loved anyone, including Drusilla. “Wait until the sun goes down and I’ll take you.” Spike did not want Justin to see Brian at the diner and decide that he wanted the brunet back.

Justin shrugged, “Sure. Will you watch some television with me?” Spike nodded, grabbed Justin’s hand, and led him to the couch. Spike sat on the couch with one leg lying across the seat cushions, so that Justin could sit in between his legs. Daphne sat down on the loveseat and turned on the television. Before the three knew it, they were engrossed in a White Collar marathon.

Justin looked at his watch, after seeing that it was dark outside. “Wow! It’s already ten. I can’t believe we were that into White Collar.”

“Of course we were. It’s a good show, plus Neal is hot,” said a smiling Daphne. Spike shook his head with amusement while Justin laughed.

“Ready, Spike? I need to get my check.” Spike nodded and led Justin outside to his motorcycle.

AT THE DINER

The bell over the door jingled, signaling a new person. Brian was sitting at his usual table with Michael, Ben, Ted, and Emmett when they saw Justin and Spike enter the establishment. Brian’s eyes narrowed when he saw that Spike and Justin were holding hands. “He’s just trying to make you jealous, Bri. Forget about him,” said Michael.

Justin and Spike didn’t even spare a glance at the table as they walked to the counter. Justin let go of Spike’s hand, walked behind the counter, and through the double doors that led to the back. Brian, without thinking, got up and walked over to Spike.

“I want you to leave Justin alone,” Brian immediately said.

Spike looked at him, with a raised eyebrow, “Or, what? Nothing, that’s what. I love Justin and he’s going to fall in love with me and completely forget all about you.”

“What do you want with him? You’re dangerous and he doesn’t need you in his life.”

“But he needs you?” sneered Spike. Spike’s voice went completely cold, as he was having to hold himself back from vamping out. “Leave Justin alone, or you will see exactly how dangerous I can be.”

Just then, Justin reappeared and couldn’t help but notice the tension. “What’s going on?”

“Nothin’, Pet. Ready?” Justin nodded and he and Spike left, leaving Brian staring at their backs.

“This isn’t over,” Brian mumbled.
