New Life
Part 3
Brian wandered into the diner right after the dinner rush. He was still in shock about the roses and the note. The only person who he could think of that would have sent the note with a comment about New York was Justin, but he hadn't seen Justin in 5 years. That thought about Justin gave him a start and he re-focused on where he was. He knew he was supposed to meet his friends here and that he was late, so where were they? He heard his name behind him and saw that they had taken the booth near the door and that he had walked right by them, without even seeing them. He turned back around and sat with them.
"God, Brian, you walked right by us! We were calling your name and everything, where were you!?!," Michael exclaimed as Brian sat next to Emmet and Ted.
"Busy day at work," he said as an explanation of his behavior.
"Well, anyways, you missed something important. We were all just talking about how we all got white roses at our doorsteps with these weird notes. Mine said, `How long does it take for a Princess to become a Queen? And what does one have to do to truly become a Queen?'. It was very odd. Everyone else should tell you what their notes said. Did you get any flowers today?," Emmet gushed.
Ted took this chance to jump in and add to what Emmet had said. "My note said, `A great man never gets sad about any situation he is in, he simply tries to change it until he can smile again.'"
Michael, not wanting to be out done, "Mine didn't have anything amazing like that, it only said to lock the door behind myself because you never knew who could open it next."
Debbie came up to them. In her hand she had a single white rose. She handed it to Brian with a note. The note read: And so the courtship shall now be started again. He looked up at Debbie.
"What is this?," he asked.
"I don't know, some boy gave it to me. He said that he wanted me to give it to you. Anyways, Kiddo, what do you want to eat?"
"Just the same as always."
"So........what does it say?," Emmet asked as he leaned to see what was on the note.
"None of your concern, but if you want to know something. This is the second white rose I've gotten today. The other one was congratulations for getting an account I'm still not sure I fully have."
Later that night, Brian opened the door to his loft and got ready for bed. He dreamed of Justin all night. His most vivid dream of Justin was having the young man suck him off. Brian woke up and he could still swear that he could feel the heat of Justin's mouth on his cock. He found his covers tossed all around the room. He felt the sweat of sex covering his body and his cock was getting hard again...wait...it was getting hard again? He rubbed the sleep from his eyes and jerked off, thinking more about Justin's burning hot mouth than the fact that he was getting hard again.
After he got himself off. He lay back in bed, not able to fall asleep. Instead his mind was filled with thought of what had happened since Justin had disappeared. So much had changed, so many things he wished he could have shared with Justin.
The first year, a check and a note were sent to him. The check was for the amount that Justin had charged to Brian's account. The note simply told them all to stop looking for him, because they would never find him if he didn't want him to. They had been looking for Justin since Brian told them that he had disappeared. They never found him. The note did nothing to make them stop looking for Justin.
The second year everyone was sent photos of their family and them living their lives. The note that came with the photos was short and to the point. All it said was to stop looking for Justin or they should start looking over their shoulders.
The third year Brian had tried to kill himself. He had long since realized how much Justin had meant to him and how he couldn't go on living without him. Luckily the gang had come over to his house to spend the day together.
The year before this had been the fourth year. Brian had disappeared. He was gone for a week and never told anyone where he had gone. In fact he had gone to a retreat that was far from any city. This place had helped him deal with the pain of losing Justin that was always part of his life.
Justin was a force of nature that no one around him could forget. He had come in and messed their world up so well that they could never find the pieces to put it back together. Then he had simply disappeared. The rest of the Taylor family had also left Pittsburgh. Debbie stayed in contact with Jennifer whenever either of them could get any time to talk.
Brian looked up in surprise as the sun touched his face. Yet another night with little sleep and instead thinking about Justin. Maybe it really was time to move on with his life, he thought to himself as he got ready for work. At least he was going to be early, maybe he could start work on the Stef&Jt campaign. That's when he heard a knock on his door and a female voice yell, "Brian Kinney are you in there?"
