New Life
Part 2
5 years later
Brian walked into the conference room with Cynthia right behind him. Today they were going to pitch to the newest Fortune 500 company. This was a company that had all sorts of branches into just about every market. If Brian landed this one company he could almost be set for life because he would get to do the advertising for all their branches.
He took a deep breath and smiled at those in front of him. He was in one of his Armani power suits. His red silk shirt popped out against the black of his jacket and pants. Behind him, Cynthia faded into the background. She had on her traditional knee length black skirt and white silk blouse. The woman who stood up to greet him had a black knee length trench coat over a stunning deep purple-red blouse and a semi-floaty dark grey skirt. Brian looked around at the others with her and let out a small gasp. He quickly covered up his surprise, one of the people with this woman reminded him of Justin.
It was the hair that caught his eye. It was the same true light blond that Justin had, but this hair was spiked and the tips were in ice blue. This man was interesting to say the least. He had on a black leather jacket that was unzipped to show the thin sliver-blue shirt under it. The see through quality of the shirt clearly showed the white wife-beater underneath. His pants were a simple black, the style of which could not be seen for the table was in the way. Same went for his shoes. Brian couldn't see the man's eyes for stylish dark black glasses covered them. But, that had to be impossible, he knew that Justin was never coming back. He was a free-bird that once let go most likely would never come back to his roots. His attention was yanked back to the woman as she started to speak.
"Hello, as you know, I am Stephanie Crammer. I am the co-owner of Stef&Jt. I'm sorry that my partner couldn't be here, but we have it already arranged that I will take care of finding a new advertising company."
"Well, I'm glad that you could at least come, Miss Crammer. I hope that you will soon find what you are looking for." Brian answered back, "I am Brian Kinney and this is my assistant, Cynthia."
"Don't worry about the learning the names of all the people who came with me. Some are my assistants and some are my partner's. I will be asking most of the questions and will be answering your's. Shall we get on with it?" She sat back down and Brian began his presentation.
Everything was going smoothly until Stephanie looked at the palm-pilot in front of her. Suddenly there were pieces of paper being passed around and whispering every so often. Brian paused as Stephanie no longer seemed to pay attention to him. He watched as half of the people from her company get up and leave. Only about five people, including her were still remaining. Brian caught Cynthia's eye and raised his eyebrow. She just simply shrugged and shook her head, saying that she didn't know what was going on. Stephanie watched until all of her people who were leaving were out of sight and then turned back to Brian.
"I'm so sorry about that. There was an emergency at the new office and some of the people who came with me here had to go back because they are senior staff. Please continue." She waved him on.
About an hour later Stephanie was being walked out of the building by Brian as they fixed up some of the smaller details of the contract that Brian was going to have Legal whip up. A horn honked and she looked up, stopping in the middle of her sentence. On the curb a silver convertible sat with a man propped up against the side. She walked up to the car with Brian.
"Thank you honey. I was just itching to get in my new baby and take her for a spin. Wanna come, Brian?," She had started out talking to the man at the car and ended talking to Brian.
"I'm sorry Stephanie, but I have a full day after this. What kind of car is it, I don't think I've really seen it around." He responded, after checking the car out.
"This is my baby. The newest Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder in titanium pearl and midnight leather interior. I simply fell in love with her when we were at a car show last year."
"We?"
"Yes, me and ...." She paused as the man next to her whispered something in her ear. "Oh, well, nice to meet you Brian. Do you mind if I give you a call sometime so you can show me around Pittsburgh?" She looked at him.
"Of course, Stephanie."
"Wonderful. Now, I must be going, so much to do." She quickly kissed his cheek and hopped into the driver's seat as the man got into the passenger seat.
Brian watched as she took off waving behind her head at him. It didn't go past him that she had never answered his question about who had been with her at the auto show. Her car disappeared around a corner and he was jerked from his trance. Silently he walked back inside the building to his office. On his desk there sat a stunning blue glass vase with white roses. Propped up on his desk there was a card. Brian opened it and read what it said. He tossed it aside as he went to go find out if Cynthia knew who had sent the flowers. The words inside the card were basic, but were shocking to him. They read:
Congratulations
I'm glad that you were the person who won the Stef&JT account. You looked as handsome as ever today, trying to sell your ideas. Almost as good as you did that day in New York City Do you care about Justin more now than you did then?
I know he misses and cares about you as much as he ever has.
