Chapter 5

Brian stormed into the art department ready to raise hell. “Mark, where is the Welsh tea ad that should have been on my desk this morning?”

“I’m still working on it; it’s nearly finished.”

Brian rocked back on his heels and rolled his tongue into his cheek.

“Uh huh, any way I can help speed things up? Salary cut, pink slips?” Brian arched a brow.

“No pressure then, Bri?”

“If you’re not feeling the pressure I’m not doing my job.”

“You’ll have it this afternoon.”

“Let me see what you have done so far.” Brian wanted to catch any potential fuck ups early so they wouldn’t have to waste more time redoing it.

Mark brought up the ad on his graphics computer. A big red dragon was entrapped within a Celtic border. Brian looked at it with a critical eye.

“Rework the border color, that’s just not working. Keep the font but make it bigger. People won’t know what the fuck they are buying with that tiny unreadable font.” There was a line of Welsh at the bottom.

“What the fuck does that mean again?”

“Enjoy your day,” Mark supplied.

“Right, not fucking likely. Christ, I hate overseas ads. That’s a pretty impressive computer,” Brian commented as he watched Mark make some of the corrections.

“Yeah, it’s pretty cool. It has all the latest cutting edge technology. The department got it two months ago.” He demonstrated some of the features to Brian who seemed to take a real interest in it.

When Brian got back to his office he put in a special order. Brian knew Justin would probably throw a fit when he found out he’d bought him a graphics computer. He thought with the computer it would ease the transition of drawing again. Justin felt he was out of practice with his drawings. Brian had every confidence in him that he would make a big comeback. He had to keep in mind that Justin was a frustrated artist. He expected no less than perfection from himself. It didn’t seem to matter that he was still recovering. Brian wanted to do something nice for his partner while showing his full support.

Brian got the cumbersome boxes into the elevator. When he reached his floor he stacked the boxes next to the door. He wanted to surprise Justin so he needed to devise a plan to get him out of the loft for awhile. Brian tried to hide the boyish smile that spread across his face; he’d enlist Logan’s help to keep Justin busy. As soon as he walked through the door his arms were filled with soft blonde boy. Brian buried his nose in the bright locks and inhaled his lover’s scent. He nibbled lightly at Justin’s ear.

“Have I told you lately how glad I am that you’re here?”

Justin smiled up at him with those beautiful blue-violet eyes. “Yes, but I never get tired of hearing it.”

Brian went up to the bedroom to change out of his suit. After long days at the office he longed to come home and just lounge around in his favorite worn jeans. As soon as Brian was dressed he called Logan over. Justin would suspect nothing. Brian had bonded with Logan long ago and enjoyed hanging out with the Lab every chance he got. Some days he felt like a kid again with his very first dog. Brian tussled Logan’s yellow fur. As Brian scratched Logan’s head he murmured quietly next to Logan’s ear.

“Logan, I have a secret mission to carry out but I’ll need some help. I think you’re just the dog for this mission.”

Logan looked intently at Brian; he cocked his head to the side as if saying he was listening.

“I need you to take Justin for a walk, take him to the park or something. I bought him a special computer for his art and I’d like to surprise him with it, have it all set up by the time he comes back. So are you in? Will you help me?”

Logan put his paw on the back of Brian’s hand as if to say, ‘Leave it to me, big guy.’

Justin was on the sofa putting the finishing touches on a sketch. When he looked up he saw Brian petting Logan. His beloved pal put a paw on Brian’s hand. He couldn’t hold back a smile. His fingers itched to sketch what he’d seen. Just then Logan trotted out of the bedroom and went right for his leash. He came back and dropped it in Justin’s lap.

Justin sighed. “Ok, I can take a hint. Brian, you want to come with us?”

“Um, not this time, I have a lot of work to do.”

“Ok, I think I’ll take Logan to the park, let him chase a squirrel or two. Now that he doesn’t have to lead me around I think he enjoys doing more doggy type activities.”

Justin tugged on his coat and clipped on Logan’s leash. When Justin opened the door he saw the boxes just outside the door.

“What’s with all the boxes?”

“Uh it’s just research on a new product I’m doing for an ad campaign. I was going to bring them in after I changed.”

Logan began pulling Justin towards the stairs.

“Alright, alright, keep your fur on.”

As soon as Justin was out of sight Brian hauled the boxes in. The computer was a heavy motherfucker. He got it out of the box and set it up on a table. The packaging was strewn all around his bare feet. Brian sighed as he looked at the multiple cords. He was grateful that they were all color coded. Then he started the task of installing the programs. The computer naturally had some already on it but he had to do the rest. Brian figured he’d be lucky to get them all loaded properly before Justin came back. While he waited for a program to load he cleaned up the packing material.

As soon as it was ready he opened a program to test it out. He drew a very crude stick figure with a huge stick-like dick. Brian thought that his drawing would amuse Justin. As an afterthought he drew another stick figure with a bountiful ass bent over in readiness. Brian chuckled at his own artistic efforts.

He set down the electronic pen when he heard the door rattle open. Brian got up and went to the island purposely ignoring the new computer in the room. He uncapped one of his glass jars and took out a treat for Logan as a job well done. Justin snagged Brian around the waist in a quick kiss.

“So did Logan kick some squirrel ass?”

“Sadly no, we looked high and low but nary a squirrel.”

“Bummer, better luck next time.”

“Brian, what’s that?” Justin nodded in the direction of the computer.

“Why don’t you go take a look and see?”

His curiosity piqued Justin went over to take a look. When he saw Brian’s drawing he couldn’t help the laugh that escaped. Justin knew what it was the moment he saw it. The graphics computer was the very best money could buy.
“Brian?” He stood there speechless. He didn’t know weather to kiss or kill his partner.

Brian saw the emotions flickering across Justin’s face. “Just kiss me and say thank you.”

Justin choked back a little sob and threw his arms tightly around Brian holding him close. Justin gave him a hard bruising kiss.

“Thank you, Brian, so much, but why did you go and spend so much money on me?”

“Because I can. Do you like it?”

“Like it? I love it.”

“Then that’s reason enough. Consider it a college present. I saw one like it at work and I thought of you. I thought it would help you along with your art.”

Justin wiped a stray tear from his eye. “Brian, what am I going to do with you?”

Brian pretended to think long and hard. “Hmm, love me?”

“I do love you, Brian.”

Before either of them got uncomfortable Brian took Justin by the hand and sat him down in front of the new computer.

“I’m going to go take a shower. I wreak.”

Brian left Justin to explore his computer. Brian figured once Justin started messing with it he’d be busy for hours. He felt warm inside, happy that he could give Justin special gifts that made his day. When he returned he was dressed in his silk robe. One check on Justin proved that he was still engrossed with the computer. Brian padded into the kitchen and placed a call to their favorite Chinese place then he lounged on the sofa. Justin happened to look up and smiled brightly.

“Care to be my first model?”

Brian shifted on the sofa, pretending to think about it. He gave a sexy smile.

“I think I can be persuaded.”

He made himself comfortable on the sofa. He let his robe gape open in all the right places, giving tantalizing peeks of bronzed skin. Justin unconsciously licked his parted lips. His breath came out in soft pants. His hand fell to his lap and he squeezed his crotch comfortingly. Brian had a sadistic side, making him deal with a hard on while trying to draw. The smirk on Brian’s face proved he was right.

“Be sure to get my good side.”

Justin grumbled good-naturedly under his breath.

On Justin’s first day of college Brian woke up extra early. He slowly eased out of his lovers arms and shut off the alarm. First he made a detour to the bathroom to take care of all his morning rituals. Brian wanted to do something special for Justin on his first day. Clad only in his robe he went into the kitchen to do something he rarely did, cook. He quietly moved about the kitchen starting the coffee and getting everything he would need to make an omelet for his boy. As he stood there cooking, he remembered back to when he was a boy going to school. His mother never made him breakfast. On the few occasions she actually did, he wished she hadn’t bothered. If it wasn’t raw it was burnt beyond recognition. Half the time the bread would be moldy or the milk would be sour; he couldn’t win.

While the omelet was cooking he put together a simple lunch for Justin for later in the day. He made him a turkey sandwich and remembered to put mayo on his. Brian shuddered. Everyone knew he ate his plain. People thought that the reason he didn’t have mayo on his sandwiches was he was health conscious and it was too fattening. While those were valid reasons, secretly the real reason was he was lactose intolerant. Brian made up a breakfast tray for Justin that included his world famous omelet, coffee and orange juice, and a small dish of strawberries. Brian carried it into the bedroom and set the tray on the nightstand. He was surprised that Justin hadn’t woken by now, although he did sufficiently wear him out the night before to get rid of the nervous energy Justin had. They had fucked three times before Justin fell asleep, not counting blow jobs.

Brian smiled down at the bundled lump in his bed. The only thing he could see was a small tuft of blonde sticking up. Brian kneeled down and slowly peeled back the covers revealing an angelic face. He leaned in and placed gentle kisses all over Justin’s face. Justin’s skin was soft and warm from sleep. Brian kissed his cheek, his eyes, nose, temple and saved his favorite for last, his lips. As Justin’s bright eyes fluttered open Brian’s roaming hand found Justin’s morning hard on. He began to stroke it slowly. Justin arched into his touch, spreading his legs a bit further; he moaned softly.

“Mmm, this is a nice way to wake up, ahhh, and breakfast in bed too. You sure do know how to spoil a guy,” Justin said in a shuddery voice.

“Only you and you’re worth it.”

As Brian slowly stroked Justin’s thick shaft, he teased Justin’s pink lips with a strawberry. Justin nipped at the berry and Brian lapped at the berry juice that clung to Justin’s lips.

“Tell me what you want, Justin.”

Justin’s cheeks turned pink. Brian always did have a way of making him blush. Justin squirmed under Brian’s intense gaze.

“I want you to finger me.”

Brian licked his lips and arched a brow. He took his middle finger and captured the pre-cum that was now flowing freely. He pressed his slick finger into Justin’s hot well fucked hole while still keeping up the slow strokes to Justin’s dripping cock.

“Is that what you want?” Brian asked coyly.

“Yes,” Justin sighed on a shuddery breath. “Oooh, so good.”

It didn’t take Justin long when Brian pressed against his prostate. He came with a shuddery whimper. After Justin came down from his high he went to the bathroom to clean up. When he returned Brian was lounging on the bed. Justin purposely crawled over Brian to get to his side of the bed. Brian gave his ass a playful swat. Justin picked up the tray and dug in with vigor.

“This was so sweet of you to make me breakfast.”

Brian shrugged, a bit embarrassed. “Just don’t expect it every day.”

Brian got up and began to get ready for work. Justin watched him intently as he got dressed.

“Mm, breakfast and a show,” Justin teased.

Justin loved to watch Brian; he was a very sexy man. Everything he did exuded sex. Brian went down to the kitchen to have his own cup of coffee while he waited for Justin to finish breakfast and get dressed. He planned to drop Justin off at school on his way to work. He also planned on having someone pick Justin up on the days he couldn’t. They had talked about it and Justin had agreed not to use the public bus system. Justin never saw what the big deal was but Brian wanted him to have a more reliable means of transportation without the unsavory riff raff. Especially after all the attacks Justin had suffered, Brian wanted to keep him safe. If that meant inconveniencing his friends and Cynthia for a few months, so be it. As soon as the allotted time passed Justin could take his driver’s test. He would make sure that Justin had his own transportation to get around. Until then he didn’t mind driving Justin to school; it would be more time spent together.

When Justin came down dressed for school Brian couldn’t hide the smile on his face. Justin looked so beautiful; there was no other word to describe him. He was stunningly beautiful, and Justin was all his. Justin wore a baby blue sweater with a white design on it and rust colored jeans. Justin nervously tugged at his clothes under Brian’s gaze.

“What?”

Brian just smiled and shook his head. “Nothing, you look great.”

“Oh, ok, well good.”

“Are you nervous?”

“Just a little, ok, I’m positively terrified. It’s been well over two years since I’ve been in school. I’m out of practice. College isn’t like high school; it’s bigger, scarier and more intense.”

Brian pulled Justin into his arms rubbing his back softly. “You’ll do fine, Justin, I know you will. Just take a deep breath and relax. I know it seems scary now but once you get started I’m sure you’ll find that it’s nothing you can’t handle.”

Justin took a deep calming breath inhaling Brian’s scent.

Brian rubbed the back of Justin’s hands with his thumbs. “I was scared shitless too, my first day of college, happens to everyone. Hell, Mikey threw up.”

“You always know how to make me feel better.” Justin looked around for his messenger bag. When he didn’t spot it right away he began to panic all over again. “Brian, where is my messenger bag?” He knew he wasn’t losing his mind; he’d had it packed the night before and set it by the island.

“That ratty old green thing?”

“Yes.”

“I think Logan took it out and buried it in the park.”

Justin truly wanted to strangle his lover. Now was not the time to be cute. Brian could tell Justin was in danger of having a coronary.

“Logan, bring Justin his bag before we both end up in the dog house.”

From the other side of the island out of sight Logan dragged a brand new leather messenger bag. Justin’s old one was pretty ratty and wouldn’t have lasted much longer. When Justin had fallen asleep Brian repacked his notebooks in the new bag.

Justin reached down to retrieve the new bag. “This does not look like my bag.”

Brian smiled boyishly. “No, it’s better.”

Justin checked out the label. “Prada, I should have known.”

“Logan has expensive tastes.”

Justin nodded with a straight face. “So let me see if I’ve got this right. Logan took my old bag and buried it in the park and bought me a new designer leather bag?”

Brian nodded playing along. “Yes, that’s the story and we’re sticking to it.”

Justin opened the bag checking the contents. “I suppose he made me lunch too.”

“No, that was me, well, unless you don’t like it then it was definitely him.”

Justin smiled and pulled Brian in for a kiss. “You are such a goofball sometimes, ya know.”

Brian cleared his throat. “Just don’t tell anyone; you’ll ruin my reputation.”

Justin grabbed up his coat. “Your secret is safe with me.”

On the way to school they listened to the radio so Justin would be distracted and less nervous. Brian dropped him off in front of the school. He pulled him in for one last kiss and then sent him on his way.

Now Justin stood clutching the strap of his bag in a death grip. He took a deep breath before pulling open the door. He was about to start a new endeavor and he hoped to God he didn’t fuck it up. After he had gotten his letter of acceptance, Brian took him on a tour of the college. It had been huge and intimidating, and it wasn’t any less intimidating now. Last night Justin memorized a map of the place. The map was tucked carefully in his front pocket just in case. He arrived at his first class only slightly frazzled. Justin took out a notebook and uncapped a pen. He reminded himself over and over that this is what he had wanted and he would do fine.

Throughout the day Brian’s thoughts kept wandering back to Justin. He wondered how he was doing. How he was settling into his classes. Most importantly was he enjoying his art classes? Brian was fairly certain he was. When it came time to pick Justin up he still had too much to get accomplished before he called it a day, so he sent Cynthia in his place. He hated to do it; he wanted to hear all about Justin’s day. Brian sighed going back to the thick stack of files on his desk; it would just have to wait till later.

Brian was exhausted by the time he got home. When he pulled the door open, he expected to be trampled by his little blonde angel. He was a bit disappointed when only Logan greeted him at the door with a wagging tail. He gave Logan a pat on the head as he entered the loft.

The loft was quiet and dark; he had yet to locate Justin. Brian set his briefcase down on his desk and draped his coat over his chair. As he went up to the bedroom he discovered Justin asleep on the big bed. Brian’s heart lurched for a moment thinking something was wrong. Justin was fully dressed. He sat down on the bed next to Justin. Brian caressed Justin’s cheek. It felt sleep warmed but not overly so. Justin didn’t have a fever. At Brian’s touch Justin’s eyes fluttered open.

“Hey, you’re home,” Justin smiled sleepily.

“Yeah, I expected to be pounced on by a certain blonde who turned out to be Logan. Are you alright, Justin?”

“Huh, oh yeah. I was just really tired after my first day. I thought I’d take a nap. It must have been all the stress. I was pretty whipped.” Justin sat up in bed and crossed his legs.

Brian smacked his thigh lightly. “So tell me how your day was.”

Justin chuckled. “Well, I made it unscathed. I only got lost, um, twice. It was pretty much first day stuff, learning what the professor expects from you.”

Brian nodded. “Sounds vaguely familiar. What about your drawing classes?”

Justin smiled brightly. “I think I’m gonna love them. We started out drawing right away. Two models came in to pose. Once I got started I felt like I was in my element. The teacher even commented on my drawing, said I had good composition.”

Brian smirked. “Well I could have told you that.” Brian drew him in for a soft kiss. “I’m glad you had a good day. I thought about you; I wanted to pick you up but I just couldn’t get away.”

“That’s ok, I like Cynthia, she’s nice.”

Justin got up to start dinner for them while Brian had a short nap himself.

A week had passed and Justin was getting acclimated with all his classes. One night at the loft Justin was pouring over his art history book while Brian worked on a new account at his desk. Logan was sawing logs in his bed.

After Justin finished reading the required chapter he closed his book. He looked over at Brian and noticed he was rubbing his neck. Justin silently got up and moved behind Brian. Without a word he began giving Brian a back rub. Brian arched into his touch, moaning deep in his throat.

“God, I needed that,” Brian groaned.

Justin leaned in and kissed the side of Brian’s neck. “Can I talk to you about something?”

“Sure.” Brian hesitated a little wondering what was up.

They moved over to the sofa and got comfortable.

“Do you remember the first dinner I went to at Deb’s, Ben asked me to speak to his gay studies class?”

“I remember. I also remember that you didn’t want to.”

“Yeah, well he asked again and I’ve been thinking about it.”

“When did he ask you again?”

Justin paused. “The night I was attacked by Ethan.”

Brian laced their fingers together and gave Justin’s hand a squeeze.

“I told him no then too, but the more I think about it the more I think I should just do it.” Justin made a face. “I really don’t like public speaking though.” Justin took a deep breath. “So I was wondering if I do this, could you be there with me? I know you’d have to take time off from work but maybe we could work around all our schedules.”

Brian stopped Justin’s nervous chatter with a kiss. “Justin, it’s no problem. If you want me there, I’ll be there. I can take an hour off from work. It’s not a big deal.”

Justin smiled in relief at his partner. Having Brian there would make him feel better.

The next day Justin met Ben at a little café not far from the college. They put in their orders before they got down to business. Justin took a drink of his water before he spoke.

“Well, Ben, if your offer still stands, I’ll accept and speak to your gay studies class.”

Ben smiled. “Of course the offer still stands; it would be a real treat to have you there.”

Justin blushed. “Thanks, I hope you don’t mind but I’d like Brian to be there too, kind of like moral support.”

“Whatever makes you comfortable, Justin. I don’t have a problem with Brian being there for you.”

“Great,” Justin said nodding. “Now we need to pick a day when all our schedules mesh.”

The waiter set down their sandwiches. Justin dug right in.

“I did want to ask what exactly did you want me to talk about, my books?”

“Well, if it doesn’t make you uncomfortable I’d like you to talk about everything. What it was like for you as a young out gay man, your art and how you were affected when you went blind. What inspired you to become a published writer and how you’re coping with the world now that you can see. You can go into as much or as little detail as you want, whatever you’re comfortable with. If someone asks a question you don’t want to answer then by all means don’t feel obligated to answer. I think the kids will really enjoy listening to you. You’re young and they can relate to that. It’ll be a treat for them to not have to listen to a stuffy old professor.”

Justin chuckled. “I doubt that you’re stuffy. Well that certainly is a lot to cover. It’ll be interesting to see if I can get through it without having a nervous breakdown.”

“You can still back out.”

Justin shook his head with resolve. “No, I want to do this. It’ll probably be good for me to talk about everything. I’ve only talked to a few people. I think it might be time for me to open up and share. Who knows, maybe it’ll help someone else.”

Ben nodded. “You never know.”
