Chapter 20

Gwen's POV

I sit at the edge of the bathtub and hold the pregnancy test tightly in my hand. Watching the view window nervously, I hope that Gus is right; then I hope he is wrong. I know Jonathan wants a baby, but are we ready? Shit! I stand up and put the test on the counter. I know this is going to be the longest three minutes of my life. I walk to the stereo and turn on some music. The Dresden Dolls plays loudly and I lean my head against the entertainment center, taking in the vibrations of the music. After a couple moments I hear the font door close.

Jonathan wraps his arms around me and moans lightly in my ear. "Mmm." He kisses my ear. "How are you doing, honey?"

Turning around in his arms I feel like my heart is about to beat out of my chest. Suddenly it feels like my lungs are closed off and I'm having trouble breathing. I take some deep breaths and can see the worry in his eyes. The breaths are not helping and he takes hold of my hands. "Gwen, where is your inhaler.?"

I gasp for breath and choke out the word, "Kitchen."

I bend over and lay my hands on my knees trying to catch my breath. I am so nervous about the results of the test that I'm starting to freak out. Before I know it Jonathan is holding me in his arms and shaking the inhaler. Then he holds it to my mouth. "Breathe," he whispers. I exhale and when I inhale he presses down on the inhaler; the harsh mist of medication makes me cough. He walks me through it one more time, and I begin to feel myself relax into Jonathan's embrace.

"Baby, are you ok?" he asks in his soft, masculine voice. "What happened to get you so worked up?"

I am finding it hard to talk so I take hold of Jonathan's hand and lead him to the bathroom. I stop at the doorway and turn around to look him in the eyes. "I took a test."

He looks at me questioningly. "Okay?" He seems a bit weirded out and now I am so fucking nervous. "What kind of test?"

I let out a breath of relief when I realize he has no clue what I am talking about. "It's in the bathroom." I know I must sound like a freak and when he raises his brow it confirms that he is thinking the same thing. I laugh a little. "I'm not crazy."

He chuckles. "Well, we both are, but why is there a test in the bathroom?"

I stumble over my words. "I…I mean …I…Oh shit!"

I can see the concern in his eyes again. "Gwen, what the fuck is going on?"

I lean into him and speak just above a whisper. "It's a pregnancy test."

He draws back and smiles at me. "Really?" All I can do is nod my head yes. "Well, what did it say?"

I laugh nervously. "I haven't looked yet. I was scared too."

He clears his throat. "Okay, I'll go look."

I nod my head, relieved he will be the one checking. He walks in the bathroom and comes out with the test in his hand. "Gwen?" I can tell he is confused or scared and I find myself panicking again. He looks directly at me. "What the fuck does two blue lines mean?"

I feel a smile spread across my face and I can't believe it. I'm pregnant. Oh my God, I hoped, I mean I thought. Oh my God! I jump up into Jonathan's arms hugging him. "Two lines means I am pregnant!"

Jonathan wraps his arms around me tightly lifts me up, and spins me around. "You have just made me the happiest man in the world, Gwen." He puts me back on the ground and tenderly puts a hand on both sides of my face, leaning in to kiss me. "I love you so much."

"I love you too," And I know everything will be okay. Seeing the joy in his eyes warms my heart.

Three weeks before the wedding

Brian's POV

I sit on the edge of the bed smoking a cigarette and watching Justin get ready for the Wedding shower. He looks over at me and smiles sheepishly. "You do realize you're going to the wedding shower right?"

I shrug my shoulders and inhale deeply. "Do I have to?"

He shakes his head and chuckles. "Yes."

I really don't mind going. I've kind of gotten used to this whole double wedding idea. Even if they did make me start helping out more with the plans. Justin has been getting closer to Jonathan which I know has really made him happy and Gwen and I, well, we've just been having fun. I noticed she seems a little different this week. She's been very cheerful, a little too cheerful, and she's been radiant; glowing even . Then the realization hits me. "Oh shit!"

Justin cocks his head and looks at me. "What, Brian?"

I shake my head and clear my throat. "What does it mean when a woman is glowing?" I know I must sound crazy but what if I am right? She seems funny lately and she is touching her belly an awful lot. "Fuck!"

Justin sits down next to me and takes my hand. "I don't know. Why do you ask?"

I shake my head trying to clear it. "Never mind, let's go," I reply quickly as I put out my cigarette and stand up.

Justin lays his hand on my arm and I turn to look at him. He smiles hesitantly. "Brian?"

Sitting back down next to Justin I start to explain. "Gwen seems different this week and she has been positively glowing. It's not like her to be so…so cheerful and happy all the time." I shudder for a moment and Justin laughs and playfully slaps my shoulder.

"Jesus, Brian, she's getting married. She's supposed to be glowing."

Deep down I know it's more than just the wedding. I remember back to when Lindsay was pregnant. She just had this beautiful essence that flowed through her and I have seen that in Gwen all week.

Patting Justin on the knee I smirk at him. "Well, come on grandpa we got a wedding shower to attend."

I am amused to see Justin's lips curl up into a smile and then he stops and glares with laughter in his eyes. "I am way too young to be a grandpa."

Standing up I offer my hand to help him up. I smirk at him mischievously. "Me too, but we both better just get fucking used to the idea."

Justin watches me intensely for a moment. "You really think Gwen is pregnant?" he whispers and I smile at him, nodding my head yes.
