It was the beginning of an ordinary day for Brian…or so he thought.

He rose early and got ready for school, wanting to leave the house as soon as possible so he wouldn't have to help with the breakfast table. At 13, he was the oldest kid in the orphanage and the Director, Mrs. Johnson, made him help around the house all the time. Brian quickly gathered his books and other school supplies in a hurry to exit. He skidded to the front door, opened it and was immediately confronted with a bundle on the stoop. It was wrapped up in blankets, so he cautiously pulled them back and peered at the most beautiful baby that he’d ever seen. The baby boy had blond hair and eyes so blue that you could drown in them. Brian dropped his things, picking the baby up and checked his back for wings, ‘cause he was sure it was an angel. And then the baby smiled at him, and if he wasn’t gone before, he sure as hell was now. Inside the blankets Brian found a letter… “I tried to take care of him, I really did, but I can’t anymore. Please take care of him and tell him that I love him. His name is Justin.” Enclosed with the letter was a file chronicling Justin’s medical history and his…condition.

Brian took Justin inside and called Mrs. Johnson. "What do you want Brian ? You are going to be late for..." She stopped dead in her trackes and stared at Brian wide eyed. "What is that?"

"That's a baby. I'm sure you know all about them."

"Don't be a smartass and that's not what I meant. What is the baby doing here?"

"Someone left him on the front porch. There a letter if you want to read it."

"Of course I want to read it." She took the letter and read it briefly. She neared Brian and tried to take Justin. "Well Justin, aren't you precious?"

Justin's scream could tear down the roof. "He's afraid. don't scare him."

"Don't tell me what to do. Besides, you need to go to school."

"But he doesn't want to leave me. It wouldn't be so bad if I skipped a day. I have gym today, it's not really important, and I'm ahead of my class in math and..."

"Ok ok, you convinced me. I need to make a couple of phone calls concerning Justin anyway. Take him upstairs and give him something to eat. I'll be there shortly."

Brian fed Justin and then he played with him. Justin giggled and smiled all the time, and Brian was happy that those smiles were aimed at him. "Say Brian. Can you say Brian?

"Bayen."

"Brian."

"Bayen."

"Oh well, I guess I'll have to settle for Bayen in the meantime, but you're not off the hook." As an answer, Justin gave Brian a small kiss on his cheek.

~Six months later~

"Brian, please get Justin ready for the afternoon. I want him washed and dressed in his best clothes."

"Why?"

"Not that it’s any of your business, but a couple is coming to see him this afternoon. They are thinking about adopting him." Mrs. Johnson saw the look of horror on Brian’s face and just smirked at him.  "You really thought that a beautiful baby like Justin would stay here long? Male, blond hair, blue eyes… He’s every woman’s dream son."
