Surprise

Surprise

Justin walked into the loft and knew Brian was already home.  It was a rare occasion when the ad executive would beat him home. The younger man’s classes finished much earlier than his lover’s work.  Tonight was a nice surprise.  That was until Justin turned towards the sounds coming from the kitchen and his eyes widened.  There he found his lover.   The only reason he could find the older man easily was because of his above average height.  The mess was piled up on the counters.  Bowls, spoons, baking pans, plates and pretty much all the contents of the kitchen were strewn about.

Brian watched as Justin walked towards him.   He was so happy that he had finished in time.  He wasn’t exactly sure when his lover would be home and wanted to have things ready.  He wanted to do something special for Justin and thought that this would work.

“Hey, baby, you’re home already,” Brian stated with a smile on his face.

“Ah, yeah.”  Justin was still quite stunned by the kitchen that had obviously exploded.  He really couldn’t think of another explanation for the mess.

Brian moved around the side of the counter and met his lover.  He bent down and pressed a loving kiss that Justin returned.  When the older man pulled back he kept his eyes fixed on the boy’s face and tried to gauge his reaction to what he’d walked in on.  He could see that Justin was quite stunned.

Justin looked back at Brian, confusion still evident on his face, but mirrored back the smile he received from his lover.  Brian had flour all over his clothes.  It also looked to Justin like he had some chocolate icing on the side of his face and in his hair.  Justin laughed out loud at the disheveled man in front of him.  It was a side of Brian he had never seen.  He thought it was something that probably no one had ever seen.

The older man watched Justin’s face lose some of its confusion. His eyes sparkled and he let out a laugh.  So far, so good.

“What happened in here Brian?  Did something explode?”  Justin asked his lover as he took his finger and wiped the icing off his cheek.  Brian watched as his baby’s finger disappeared into his beautiful mouth and sucked the icing off.  Brian felt his cock twitch at the sight.

Brian remembered that Justin had asked him a question and turned and looked back at the kitchen, not having realized the mess he had created.   Now he understood the look on his lover’s face when he’d walked in.  “Shit.”  He had really made a mess.

Justin laughed at Brian’s reaction to his disaster and waited for his lover to answer him. Instead of answering, Brian took Justin by the hand and led him over to sit at the dining room table.  No words were exchanged as Justin watched Brian leave him and head back into the kitchen.  The blonde was at a loss for words.  He didn’t have any idea what Brian was up to and it made him feel excited.  He watched as Brian moved around the kitchen and gathered items in his hands.

He felt Justin’s eyes follow him.  He didn’t speak.  He didn’t want to spoil the surprise he had worked so hard on for his baby.  He wanted Justin to know how special he was, but knew he wasn’t able to use the words.  Words never came easily for Brian.  Actions were the way he communicated.  You could trust actions easier than words.  Anyone could say anything they wanted, but actions spoke for themselves.  Once he had everything he needed, Brian headed back to his patient lover with his surprise presented proudly in front of him.

The blonde watched as his lover approached him.  A huge smile plastered on his beautiful face.  His bright blue eyes widened in surprise.  Brian held in his hands a plate with a iced chocolate cake on it.  The cake was lopsided and looked like it had been iced by a two year old, but Justin thought it was the best looking cake he’d ever seen.  Brian had made it for him.

Brian reached the table and placed the cake down in front of Justin.  He put down the plate, fork and knife he held in his hand and sat in the chair next to his lover.  He took Justin’s hand in his and leaned over to place a soft kiss on his lover’s mouth.  Before he could pull away, his baby kissed him again.  They pulled apart, each with a smile on their face.

Still not speaking, Brian picked up the knife and cut Justin a large piece of cake.  He put it on the plate and placed it in front of his lover.  Brian handed the fork to Justin and motioned for him to take a taste of the delicious looking cake.

Justin smiled brightly, overwhelmed by the amazing gesture and lifted a forkful of cake to his mouth.  He closed his mouth around the cake and began to chew.  His lover watched him intently eat the cake that he’d made especially for him and waited for the boy’s reaction.

Justin didn’t know what to do.  The cake was HORRIBLE.  It tasted burnt and bitter and he could have sworn he’d felt the crunch of eggshells as he chewed.  He tried to keep the smile on his face.  He didn’t want to let Brian know how bad it was after all the effort he’d put into the cake.  Justin finally swallowed the cake and tried not to gag as it went down.

“Mmm, that was delicious, Brian.”  Justin didn’t want to hurt his lover’s feelings and tried his hardest to sound genuine.

The older man smiled proudly, took a deep breath and worked up his courage to explain the cake to his lover.  He looked into his baby’s beautiful blue eyes and instantly gained the confidence to speak.  “Justin, you know I have a hard time telling you how I feel, so I wanted to do something special, just for you, to show you.  I know how much you love pretty much anything that goes in your mouth.”  Brian paused as his lover’s eyebrows raised in response to his last words.  He realized what he’d said and smiled.   “Food that is.”  Brian shook his head and laughed softly at his baby’s dirty mind.  “So, I did something I’ve never done before and baked you your favorite chocolate cake.”

Justin was speechless as he stared back at his lover, tears spilled from his eyes.  He knew what Brian tried to say with his gesture.  His heart swelled and beat faster with the love he felt for the older man.  Brian could see that Justin understood his message.  His heart too beat a little faster, and the blinding ‘Sunshine’ smile on his baby’s face took his breath away.

The blonde sniffed and wiped his eyes with the back of his hand.  He took his fork and broke off another piece of cake.  He placed the forkful of cake into his mouth and began to chew.

The younger man smiled at his lover around the mouthful of cake and said genuinely, “This is the best cake I’ve ever had.”
