Don't Worry, I'll See You Again
Chapter 3
Sirius’ POV:
It is as if time is suspended after Bellatrix's spell hits me full on in the
chest. I start to fall back towards the veil.
What the devil is that burning sensation??
Oh Bloody Hell!!!! That crazed cousin of mine actually got me!! She actually got
my sorry arse!!
I never did fear fighting evil in order to protect the ones I love.. I guess I
just didn’t think I would die doing that, but if I did, I would wish for it over
most other ways; it’s a pretty damn good way to go, and a lot better than most.
It’s just that right now is a damn inconvenient time for fate to step in and
grant that wish.
"SIRIUS!!!!" bellows Harry. I can see Harry struggling violently to get away
from Remus.
Harry? Oh bugger, he is going to blame himself for this. I've failed James
and Lily yet once again. It was bad enough when I unknowingly had them switch
from me to that traitor, Pettigrew, in that Secret Keeper affair. I had hoped to
make up for it by being there for Harry. Damn, I'm not even going to get to see
him finish growing up into the fine outstanding man I know he will be.
Oh there is no doubt about it. Harry will definitely blame himself for what
happened here tonight, as he has for everything else that has happened in his
life up to this point.
Oh Merlin, how am I going to get him through this? If it ends up being that I
don‘t make it how is he going to understand this? I won‘t be there to talk to
him about this. Idiot! How could I have forgotten about doing that? I put my
last thoughts before coming here into the pensieve. If worse comes to worse, I
can only hope that Remus finds it. Maybe it will help Harry find the peace that
I never was able to after being in that wretched Azkaban.
Wait a minute….why am I not fighting back? Oh fuck!! Her stupid little stunner
knocked me into the Veil, of all the lucky breaks for that Bitch to get! Damn
it!!
Remus old mate, it will be up to you now to share with Harry all the adventures
we had with James and Lily. Harry really needs to hear about them. I had hoped
to be the one to tell him about some of them, but that won't happen now. Please
don't fail James and Lily like I did. You're the only link left to their past.
Take care good friend and I'll see you again when it is your time. Long live the
Marauders.
Harry, please don't blame yourself for what happened. You had no way of knowing
that this was a trap by Voldemort. We each made our choices based on what we
knew. I hope that you can understand someday that I do not regret coming after
you tonight. That's what a godfather is supposed to do. I am eternally grateful
for the short time that we did have together. You definitely are your father's
son. Cherish your friends and let them help you. It's strange, but I just can't
help but feel that you will be successful in the final confrontation to come.
Hmmm. My time is up and it is time for me to go. Know everyone that I will be
with you always. We'll see each other again in the future.
Well, there's one bright spot in all of this. I won't have to listen to that
horrible hag anymore. I truly am free!!
Sirius falls through the veil and the battle in the Department of Mysteries
continues. Harry breaks free of Remus’ grip and goes charging after Bellatrix.
