Don't Worry, I'll See You Again

Chapter 2

Remus’ POV:

It is as if time has been suspended after Bellatrix' spell hits Sirius full on in the chest. I see Sirius start to fall back towards the veil.

NO!! It can't be! That crazy bitch of a cousin actually got him! Oh why did he have to taunt her? That damn fool got cocky and now he’s paid for it!

No I have to stop that.. I know he's never been afraid of evil nor of protecting the ones he loved. This is how he wanted to go during these dark times. Not locked up in that dark and depressing house of his.

“NO!!” I hear. I see Harry trying to make his way to Sirius and I have to grab him as I know there's nothing that can be done now for Sirius.

“SIRIUS!!!!!” bellows Harry, struggling violently against my hold.

“He's gone, Cub! There's nothing you can do now. He’s gone.”

Oh Harry. No doubt that you are going to blame yourself for what happened to Padfoot. Just as he blamed himself for what happened to Prongs and Lils.

Never in a million years did I expect that I would end up being the last of the Marauders. I always thought we'd either die of old age or go out with a bang. Never did I expect that it would be one by one. Who's gonna run with me now during the full moon? Guess it's back to barricading myself.

Oh, what am I going to tell Harry about Lily and James? I always thought I'd have Sirius there to help me tell him the tales of the fun we had as well as the adventures. How James finally got Lily to go out with him when they were in school.

Dumbledore, you’re going to have a lot to answer for. You knew Sirius didn't like being locked up in that damn house of his. Yes, I know you were trying to keep him safe and alive for Harry. Still doesn’t justify the fact that your actions end up hurting people. Oh for sure you don’t want me in the room when you attempt to talk to Harry. No doubt he’s gonna go off on you. You definitely have it coming old man. At least with me not there, you’’ have a chance of coming out of it relatively unscathed…maybe.

Sirius, I know you've already forgiven me for thinking you were the spy and betrayer during the Secret Keeper affair. Trust me, old friend, your sacrifice will not be in vain. Pettigrew will pay for all the harm he caused all of us, especially Harry. If I’m lucky…I’ll get to him first and rip him to pieces. Oh yes, to hear that rat scream out loud. The blood pouring down…NO! I’ve got to think of my Cub. He comes first. Know that I will do my best to help Harry in defeating Voldemort. Oh what I wouldn’t’ give to rip that bastard’s head off. He’s the main reason for all this pain. Sneak up behind him, grab that snake head of his….NO NO! I need to be around for Harry. Will also do my best to see that he grows into the young man that James and Lily would be proud of. I’ll see you again, along with Lily and James, when it's my time.

Sirius is nowhere to be seen on the other side of the veil and the battle in the Department of Mysteries continues. Harry breaks free from Remus and goes charging after Bellatrix.

Damn it! Oh I’m getting too old for this. Better tell Dumbledore that Harry's taken off after Bellatrix.
